xpate, an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) that specializes in payment services, has expanded its capabilities by joining Visa's Ramp Provider Program. The company, which operates as a Visa Principal Member and high-integrity risk acquirer, says this certification marks an important step in its goal to simplify money management by connecting traditional fiat systems with cryptocurrency payments.
Visa launched the Ramp Provider Program in April 2024. The initiative was designed to create a standardized process for consumers who want to purchase digital assets (known as on-ramping) or convert them back to traditional currency (off-ramping) using Visa cards. The program covers transactions involving cryptocurrencies and NFTs.
To receive authorization under the program, xpate had to meet Visa's requirements for transaction transparency, consumer protection, and regulatory compliance. According to the company, the certification allows it to process deposits on behalf of merchant customers by facilitating transactions between cardholders and crypto conversion partners.
"We are incredibly proud to have completed registration under Visa's Ramp Provider Program," said Nelli Gersamija, Head of Partnerships at xpate. "This milestone marks not only an expansion of our service capabilities, but also a further step in supporting digital businesses, whilst maintaining strict compliance standards. Being authorized by Visa empowers our merchants to serve more end-users and drive the adoption of crypto payments globally."
Visa created the Ramp Provider Program to improve transparency in the digital asset space and strengthen risk monitoring across crypto and NFT transactions. The program provides better visibility into how digital currencies move between traditional payment systems and blockchain networks.
For xpate, the certification opens up new opportunities to work with merchants who want to offer crypto payment options to their customers. The authorization applies globally, though specific availability may depend on local regulations.
