$8.4 Million Grant Fuels World's First Zinc-ion Megafactory

From a $600K grant to an $8.4 million windfall from the Swedish Energy Agency is nothing short of electrifying

In the dynamic landscape of sustainable energy solutions, Swedish innovator Enerpoly takes center stage. With a steadfast commitment to transforming the battery industry, Enerpoly strides forward, armed with an $8.4 million grant from the Swedish Energy Agency – a pivotal boost following a recent $600K grant. As the global demand for batteries escalates, Enerpoly gears up to construct the world's inaugural megafactory dedicated to zinc-ion battery production.

Zinc-ion batteries emerge as the beacon of sustainable energy storage, a potent alternative to the ubiquitous lithium-ion counterparts. Enerpoly's patented zinc-ion battery technology harnesses the abundance of globally available zinc and manganese, ensuring not only cost-effectiveness but also a recyclable supply chain. Founded in 2018 in Stockholm by Mylad Chamoun and Samer Nameer, Enerpoly propels the industry towards scalability, affordability, and profitability.

Enerpoly's ambitious venture, the 'Enerpoly Production Innovation Center (EPIC),' is set to revolutionize the stationary energy storage sector. Over the next three years, EPIC will manifest into the world's inaugural zinc-ion battery manufacturing plant, boasting an annual capacity throughput of 100 MWh. This milestone signifies a tangible leap towards proving the scalability and viability of zinc-ion battery technology.

The substantial grant from the Swedish Energy Agency will catalyze the establishment of EPIC, contributing to the development of automated manufacturing systems. This infusion of funds seeks to streamline processes, enhance energy efficiency, and fortify productivity and safety measures at the plant. Beyond these objectives, Enerpoly aims to demonstrate the significant role of zinc-ion batteries in reducing carbon emissions, fortifying Europe's competitive stance, and fostering diversification within the battery supply chain.

Co-founder and CTO Mylad Chamoun remarks, "This is a major milestone for Enerpoly and for zinc-ion battery technology globally. With EPIC, we will showcase how this technology is scalable and can enable the large-scale adoption of renewable energy." Backed by the Swedish Energy Agency, Enerpoly's pursuit aligns seamlessly with Sweden's position at the forefront of the critical energy transition.
