Brainomix, an AI-driven medical imaging company, has closed a $18M Series C funding round to accelerate the commercialization of its AI-powered diagnostic tools. The round was co-led by Parkwalk Advisors and Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund (BIVF), with new participation from Hostplus via the IP Group Hostplus Innovation Fund. LifeSci Capital also supported the investment.

A spinout from the University of Oxford, Brainomix has become a leader in AI-powered stroke and lung fibrosis imaging, operating in over 20 countries worldwide. The company’s flagship Brainomix 360 Stroke platform has already been deployed in more than 300 hospitals, helping to enhance stroke diagnosis and treatment decision-making for over 1.5 million patients.

Driving Innovation in AI Imaging

Brainomix specializes in automating imaging biomarkers to improve diagnostic precision and treatment outcomes. Its Brainomix 360 Stroke platform has been associated with a 50% increase in the number of stroke patients receiving mechanical thrombectomy, a critical procedure that significantly reduces disability.

The company has also applied its expertise to lung fibrosis with the Brainomix 360 e-Lung tool, which has received FDA clearance. Brainomix is working with Boehringer Ingelheim, a leader in lung fibrosis treatments, to assess the platform’s real-world impact in improving disease identification and access to treatment.

Dr. Michalis Papadakis, CEO and Co-Founder of Brainomix, commented: “We would like to thank all the investors that participated, including Parkwalk and Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund for their continued support, and welcome Hostplus, all of whom recognize the transformative impact that our technology can have on treatment for stroke and lung fibrosis patients.”

Expanding into the U.S. Market and Enhancing AI Capabilities

The fresh funding will enable Brainomix to accelerate its U.S. expansion, where it has already secured ten FDA clearances. The company plans to scale operations, increase access to its AI-powered imaging solutions, and enhance product development for faster diagnosis and broader disease coverage.

Additionally, Brainomix aims to grow its Oxford-based headquarters and expand its global commercial team to support rising demand. The company has grown to over 75 employees and plans further hiring to strengthen its presence in key markets.

Building on a Strong Investment History

Parkwalk Advisors, the UK’s largest growth EIS fund manager, has been a long-term supporter of Brainomix. John Pearson, Chief Investment Officer at Parkwalk, stated: “Brainomix has successfully demonstrated its platform imaging software is able to deliver both significant societal impact and strong growth for investors.”

BIVF, a major investor in healthcare technology, reaffirmed its commitment. Dr. Oliver Reuss, Investment Manager at BIVF and Director of the Brainomix Board, noted: “Brainomix has demonstrated an unparalleled track record of successfully delivering AI solutions into stroke clinical practice, and they are now doing it again in lung fibrosis.”

The investment also highlights the UK’s growing strength in AI-powered medical solutions, as noted by Lord Patrick Vallance, UK Minister of State for Science, Research, and Innovation: “The AI tools developed by Brainomix are already helping patients get fast and accurate diagnosis and treatment for a range of serious conditions. Securing this funding will help them to grow, create more jobs, and support more patients.”
