Senior care tech startup August Health has raised $29 million in Series B funding to expand its AI-enabled platform for senior living communities. The round was led by Base10 Partners, with participation from existing backers General Catalyst and Matrix Partners. New strategic investors include Equitage Ventures, the Senior Living Transformation Company, and Stanford University.
This latest raise comes amid strong traction in the senior living market, positioning August Health to scale its solutions at a critical time for the industry.
As the aging population grows rapidly, senior living communities are under pressure to deliver high-quality care at scale. August Health aims to provide a modern, purpose-built system of record that helps care teams navigate this demand with improved efficiency, clarity, and resident outcomes.
“August Health is redefining senior living technology,” said Adam Kaplan, Co-Founder and Partner of Equitage Ventures and CEO and Founder of Solera Living. “They’ve emerged as a frontrunner shaping the future of the industry, providing a modern, data-driven platform that transforms care and operations so that communities can thrive.”
The new capital will go toward accelerating product development—most notably August Intelligence, an AI-enabled care partner embedded within the platform. The feature is designed to proactively support clinical, operational, and financial decisions across senior living communities.
August Intelligence offers real-time, personalized insights to help care teams take timely action. It generates evidence-based suggestions and summary views tailored to each community’s needs. August Health plans to roll out August Intelligence to select operators starting this fall.
“As a customer, I’ve seen firsthand the clarity August Health brings to our operations,” said Andy Eby, CEO of Senior Living Transformation Company and Bickford Senior Living. “Now, as an investor, I’m excited about what’s ahead. August Health’s approach to embedded intelligence is elegant and grounded, not built on hype, but on real opportunities to support staff and elevate resident care.”
August Health reports that communities using its platform see tangible improvements: a 23% drop in resident incidents, a 20% boost in revenue, and millions of dollars in newly captured care services. Among clinical staff, 87% say the platform improves care quality, and four in five report better job satisfaction—a key metric in an industry grappling with staffing shortages.
In addition to supporting care delivery, August Health also offers solutions for Move-Ins, medication management (eMAR), billing, and compliance. This end-to-end system is already in use at thousands of communities across the U.S. and Canada.
August Health was founded in 2020 by Dr. Justin Schram and Erez Cohen, a former Apple engineering leader and serial startup founder. Together, they launched the company to address a long-standing need for intuitive, scalable software in senior care.
Built with input from senior living professionals and top-tier engineers, the platform is designed to be easy for staff to use while providing deep insight into operations and resident care. The company has quickly gained traction with major operators including Sonida Senior Living, 12 Oaks Senior Living, Bickford Senior Living, Koelsch Communities, and Westmont Living.
The Series B round adds to previous investments from General Catalyst and Matrix Partners, who continue to support August Health’s growth. The addition of Equitage Ventures, Stanford University, and the Senior Living Transformation Company signals growing confidence in August Health’s long-term vision.
