Arondite, a UK-based startup specializing in AI-powered solutions for defense and security, has raised over $12 million in seed funding. The round was led by Index Ventures, with continued support from Creator Fund and Concept Ventures. The raise also includes a previously undisclosed $2.25 million pre-seed round led by Concept Ventures and Creator Fund.
The new capital will support the company’s efforts to scale its platform, which enables better coordination between humans and autonomous systems. Arondite is building critical infrastructure for defense organizations operating a wide array of machines, from drones to ground sensors, providing a unified interface to streamline operations.
Autonomous technologies are proliferating, but many still operate in isolation. This fragmentation often results in operational blind spots and inefficient data use. Arondite addresses this challenge by creating what it calls the "connective tissue"—software that links disparate autonomous systems and gives operators a centralized view to coordinate more safely and effectively.
“It's critically important that the systems we provide to those who provide security for us cannot undermine or in any way be less than worthy of the values that we're seeking to protect in the first place,” said co-founder and CEO Will Blyth.
The platform supports a range of defense and public safety use cases, including minefield clearance and protection of large-scale infrastructure like transport and energy networks.
The funding will be used to expand Arondite’s technical and operational teams, advance product development, and engage with new partners and government organizations. The company aims to deepen its presence in the UK and international defense markets.
It also plans to invest in AI and machine learning capabilities to enhance its platform’s analytics layer, enabling real-time insights and operational recommendations for users.
Arondite was founded by Will Blyth and Rob Underhill, who bring a mix of military and deep tech experience. Will is a former British Army officer who later worked at the Ministry of Defence, Palantir, and Helsing. Rob served as a lead engineer at BAE Systems and was the founding engineer at Garrison Technology.
Their complementary backgrounds have shaped Arondite’s practical yet forward-looking approach. The product design is heavily informed by real-world defense operations and built with an emphasis on both performance and safety.
“We are deeply mindful of the responsibility to ensure that AI tools are built in a way that makes sure humans retain the right levels of control,” Blyth added.
Arondite’s backers are notable players in early-stage deep tech. Index Ventures led the latest round, joining Creator Fund and Concept Ventures, who had already invested in the pre-seed phase.
“We’ve known Arondite since inception and it’s been clear from the outset that launching the startup has come from a place of thorough consideration,” said one of the investors.
