Angle Health has closed an oversubscribed $134 million Series B round to expand its AI-powered health benefits platform. Portage led the investment, with participation from Blumberg Capital, Mighty Capital, PruVen Capital, SixThirty Ventures, TSVC, Wing VC, and Y Combinator. The round combines debt and equity, pushing total funding to nearly $200 million.
The company targets a massive market opportunity. About 62 million Americans work for small and medium-sized businesses, many of which struggle to offer competitive healthcare benefits. Employer healthcare costs are expected to see their largest increase in 15 years, according to a recent Mercer report.
Traditional healthcare benefits systems were built for large enterprises with dedicated HR teams and negotiating power. Small businesses have historically been stuck with expensive, one-size-fits-all plans or complex self-funded arrangements they lack the resources to manage.
"The healthcare benefits ecosystem wasn't designed for the small-to-medium-sized businesses that employ nearly half of America's workforce, and legacy technology can't deliver on the efficiencies and savings unlocked by AI," said Ty Wang, co-founder and CEO of Angle Health. "We're rebuilding healthcare infrastructure and care pathways to give all employers access to the comprehensive benefits historically reserved for large enterprises."
Angle Health uses AI models trained on millions of de-identified patient records to predict healthcare risks. The platform integrates medical and pharmacy data, demographic information, real-time claims patterns, and population health trends. This allows brokers and employers to identify emerging risks, design better plans, and deploy targeted interventions before problems escalate.
The new funding will help Angle Health scale operations to meet growing demand. Since announcing its Series A in 2022, the company has grown revenue 26x and now serves more than 3,000 employers across 44 states. Customer renewal rates exceed 80%, and member satisfaction sits at 90% through the first three quarters of 2025.
One key differentiator: Angle Health customers see 36% lower median rate increases compared to the industry average for small businesses. The company plans to use the capital to expand its team, improve its technology, and reach more employers struggling with healthcare costs.
Ty Wang and Anirban Gangopadhyay founded Angle Health after working at Palantir, where they learned to build systems that make sense of complex, messy data. They applied that experience to healthcare benefits, an industry where information often sits in silos and decisions get made without real insight into costs or outcomes.
The company's Angle Benefit Builder tool lets brokers generate firm underwritten quotes in minutes rather than weeks. No individual health surveys required. Thousands of brokers already use the platform, and many report improved close rates and happier clients. The Health Scorecard feature gives brokers and employers visibility into risk that was previously unavailable.
Portage brings significant experience in financial services technology. The firm manages over $4 billion across 65+ portfolio companies in 13 countries. Their partnerships team has facilitated more than 120 collaborations between corporate financial institutions and startups.
"Angle Health is what happens when you bring some of the brightest minds in AI and machine learning into an industry that consistently lags in technological innovation," said Ricky Lai, General Partner at Portage. "The Angle team is taking a novel approach to one of the biggest challenges facing employers today: how to provide employees with quality healthcare access while keeping costs in check. They are using human-centered AI to rebuild the operational and financial infrastructure behind healthcare benefits. We are humbled to be a part of the Angle Health journey."
Previous investors including Blumberg Capital, Wing VC, and Y Combinator also participated in this round. The combined investor group brings expertise across fintech, healthcare, and enterprise software.
