Bounti, an AI-native platform built for operational work in the physical economy, has closed a €4 million Seed round. The round was led by Ventech, with participation from IBB Ventures, Festina, Robin Capital, and Common Magic. A group of angel investors also joined, including Paul Forster, co-founder of Indeed, and Koen Bok and Jorn van Dijk, co-founders of Framer.
The funding will support product development and expansion across decentralised, multi-location businesses in the hospitality and retail sectors.
The first wave of enterprise AI focused heavily on digital knowledge work: writing, coding, data analysis, planning. These are structured environments where AI tools have delivered real results. But a large share of the global economy does not operate that way.
Industries like hospitality, retail, and services create value on the ground, through daily work carried out by staff across dozens or hundreds of locations. These businesses face persistent labour shortages, high turnover, language barriers, and constant pressure to maintain consistent quality. Most existing software was built for administrative teams, not frontline workers. It supports reporting and planning, but falls short when it comes to actual day-to-day execution.
The pattern is familiar: strategies and standards are clearly defined at the top. The challenge is making sure they are followed consistently at every location, every day. Knowledge gets lost. Standards are interpreted differently by different teams. Management often learns about quality issues only after they have already had a financial impact.
Bounti was built to address exactly that gap.
The Seed capital will primarily go toward product development and deeper integration into the daily workflows of operational teams. Bounti's goal is to move beyond analytics and deliver AI-driven support at the point where work actually happens: detecting deviations early, surfacing root causes, and triggering concrete actions at location level, not in a management dashboard weeks later.
The company also plans to expand its reach across Europe, targeting multi-location businesses in food service, retail, and hospitality. The next phase is about building a stronger, more direct link between how operational quality is managed day-to-day and how it shows up in business performance.
Bounti was founded by Deniz and Ziar, two operators who worked in hospitality and experienced firsthand the distance between what a company intends and what actually happens in kitchens, shops, and service floors. That background shaped the product from day one.
Rather than building another reporting tool, they focused on operational process support: something a frontline team member could pick up on a mobile device, use without friction, and get immediate value from on shift. Today, thousands of employees across BackWerk, Coffee Fellows, Peter Pane, L'Osteria, LAP Coffee, and Burgermeister use Bounti daily to maintain standards, onboard new staff faster, and simplify internal communication.
The platform is built around a clear premise: technology that creates extra work for frontline staff will not be adopted, no matter how advanced it is. Ease of use, mobile availability, and tangible relief in the working day are not optional extras. They determine whether the product succeeds at all.
The round brings together institutional and angel capital from investors with experience across SaaS, fintech, and consumer platforms. Ventech, the lead investor, is a European venture firm with a track record in early-stage B2B software. IBB Ventures, backed by the Investment Bank of Berlin, focuses on Berlin-based tech startups. Festina, Robin Capital, and Common Magic round out the institutional base.
On the angel side, Paul Forster co-founded Indeed, one of the world's largest job platforms. Koen Bok and Jorn van Dijk co-founded Framer, the design and prototyping tool widely used by product teams. Their involvement signals confidence in Bounti's approach well beyond its initial vertical.
