BrightHeart, an artificial intelligence company focused on prenatal ultrasound, has closed an €11 million Series A financing round. Odyssée Venture and GO Capital co-led the investment, with participation from the Mussallem CHD Alliance, Lift Value, IDAHO HealthTech Club via Side Angels, and founding investor Sofinnova Partners. The round also attracted prominent clinicians and angel investors, including Professor Laurent Salomon, former President of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG), and serial medtech entrepreneurs Sacha Loiseau and John Gridley.
The Paris-based company plans to use the capital to support U.S. commercialization efforts and expand across Europe while continuing product development. BrightHeart's B-Right AI Platform aims to establish a new standard in prenatal ultrasound by delivering expert-level screening for complex organs.
The platform focuses on helping OB-GYNs improve detection of congenital heart defects (CHD), which remain among the most challenging conditions to identify during routine prenatal exams. BrightHeart integrates directly into existing clinical workflows, enabling clinicians to perform more accurate and complete exams while reducing evaluation time. The system provides real-time guidance without disrupting how healthcare professionals work.
The company achieved significant milestones in 2025, securing five FDA clearances and establishing partnerships with leading academic medical centers. BrightHeart also earned two major publications in Obstetrics & Gynecology, making it the only company in the field with published peer-reviewed clinical evidence supporting its technology.
Clinical validation studies show that BrightHeart's technology improves CHD detection rates to over 96% while reducing diagnostic errors and improving efficiency. This performance addresses a serious healthcare challenge: congenital heart defects affect nearly 1% of all births, and early detection significantly impacts patient outcomes and treatment options.
"This new round of funding empowers us to accelerate BrightHeart's mission of making AI the new standard of care in prenatal ultrasound. Our goal is to enhance diagnostic accuracy, improve outcomes for families and babies, and streamline clinical workflows for healthcare professionals," said Cécile Dupont, CEO of BrightHeart and Partner at Sofinnova Partners. "We are thrilled to have the support of our investors, who bring not only deep expertise in healthcare innovation but also proven experience in scaling companies globally. We are excited to work with our new partners as we enter the next stage of our company's evolution."
Both co-lead investors bring substantial experience in scaling regulated healthcare technologies across international markets. Julien Andrieux, partner at Odyssée Venture, noted that "BrightHeart has built a defensible clinical foundation in one of the most complex areas of prenatal imaging."
Leïla Nicolas, partner at GO Capital, added that "By pairing expert-level screening with tangible workflow benefits and seamless integration, the company is well positioned to become a reference platform in prenatal ultrasound."
The participation of the Mussallem CHD Alliance highlights the platform's potential impact on patient outcomes. The alliance represents a major initiative of the Linda and Mike Mussallem Foundation dedicated to helping people born with congenital heart defects.
The Mussallem CHD Alliance's involvement reflects broader recognition of the need for better diagnostic tools in prenatal care. Orin Herskowitz, President of the Mussallem CHD Alliance, emphasized the technology's potential reach.
"At the Mussallem CHD Alliance, we envision a future where babies born with congenital heart defects have access to early and accurate diagnosis, and BrightHeart's platform gives us confidence that this future is within reach," said Herskowitz. "By embedding advanced AI directly into ultrasound workflows, BrightHeart is paving the way for expert-level fetal heart screening to become part of routine prenatal care. Expanding access to innovations like this has the power to dramatically improve the diagnostic landscape for CHD patients and their families, addressing a critical, urgent need."
BrightHeart's platform provides support across the entire ultrasound exam, offering guidance at every step for fetal heart screening, precise tracking of anatomy, and efficient evaluations. The FDA-cleared medical devices integrate into routine ultrasound workflows to improve exam completeness, save time, and support confident clinical decision-making.
The company is a portfolio company of Sofinnova MD Start, Sofinnova Partners' medical device accelerator. Built for connected care at scale, the platform provides continuous support from initial screening through final review, wherever prenatal ultrasound takes place.
With regulatory clearances in place, clinical validation published, and growing demand for AI solutions in prenatal care, BrightHeart is positioning itself to expand globally. The combination of proven technology, strategic investor support, and mission-aligned partners creates a foundation for scaling operations across key markets.
The company's approach addresses both clinical and practical needs: better diagnostic accuracy for clinicians and improved outcomes for families facing congenital heart defect diagnoses. As healthcare systems increasingly look to AI solutions that integrate smoothly into existing workflows, BrightHeart's focus on usability alongside clinical performance may prove significant in its market expansion.
