
Catalyx Space has closed an oversubscribed $5.4 million Seed round led by Outlander VC. The space infrastructure company is building integrated systems that turn orbital return missions into bookable services rather than custom operations.
The funding comes seven months after Catalyx raised $1.7 million in a pre-Seed round this January. That capital supported the company's first successful capsule drop test, completed within six months of closing. Participating investors in the Seed round include Arka Venture Labs, Lex Reddy, KDX Management LLC, Together Fund, Higher Life Ventures, Nivesha Ventures, Prana Tech Ventures, Bria, HF0 Residency, and Techstars.
Getting payloads into orbit has become increasingly routine. Getting them back remains complicated and expensive. Catalyx is addressing what it calls the "downmass problem" by creating scheduled return logistics for microgravity-manufactured products, research samples, and mission components.
The company operates across hardware, software, and operations. Its platform includes reentry and recovery systems, lightweight spacecraft buses, ground-station software, and deployment standards for small satellites. The goal is making orbit function like accessible infrastructure rather than a series of one-off engineering projects.

The new funding will commercialize Catalyx's reentry architecture and expand operations internationally. The company is focusing on customer acquisition across defense, advanced manufacturing, and biopharmaceutical sectors where microgravity environments offer distinct advantages for research and production.

Catalyx is positioning itself as a complete solution provider in this expanding market, serving organizations that need faster iteration cycles and lower costs for orbital missions.
Rifath Shaarook founded Catalyx in 2024 after years of frustration with long development timelines and fragmented infrastructure across the space industry. He brings direct mission experience to the venture, having completed dozens of successful space projects.
Shaarook gained attention at 18 when he designed KalamSat, recognized at the time as the world's lightest satellite. The 3D-printed device demonstrated his approach to engineering: finding simpler paths through complex technical challenges. That same philosophy drives Catalyx's integrated platform model.

The company was co-founded with Clinton D Antony, Keerthan Chand Aluvala, and Saqib Hussain. Together, they're building systems that compress mission timelines and reduce the specialized expertise required to operate in orbit.

The investor group spans venture capital firms and strategic backers with interests across technology sectors. Their participation reflects growing confidence in commercial space infrastructure as enterprises across industries explore microgravity applications for manufacturing, research, and logistics.
Catalyx serves customers testing concepts, building products, and running experiments in space. The company's non-canisterized deployment standard and autonomous lab systems with reentry capabilities aim to make these operations more accessible to organizations beyond traditional aerospace contractors. The platform targets faster development cycles and lower costs compared to existing mission architectures.
