Clay, the AI-powered go-to-market (GTM) development platform, has raised $100 million in a Series C round led by CapitalG, Alphabet’s independent growth fund. The funding pegs Clay’s valuation at $3.1 billion and comes just six months after its Series B expansion.
Returning investors Sequoia Capital, Meritech Capital, First Round Capital, BoxGroup, and Boldstart participated in the round, alongside new backer Sapphire Ventures. The company’s total funding now stands at $204 million.
Clay sits at the center of a fast-evolving segment of the AI market: GTM engineering. The platform helps businesses automate sales and marketing research workflows, enabling outreach and prospecting at a scale and level of personalization that would be nearly impossible manually. Its customer base includes AI heavyweights OpenAI, Anthropic, and Cursor, as well as high-growth players like Canva, Intercom, and Rippling.
“GTM engineering represents the first true AI-native profession, and we believe that it will be tech’s next big job category,” said Kareem Amin, CEO and co-founder of Clay.
The GTM engineering role, coined just two years ago, is gaining traction fast. There are now over 280 open roles across companies like Webflow, Notion, Cursor, and Lovable. Seven bootcamps have already graduated 2,500+ GTM engineers, and Clay’s community spans 60 clubs in 30 countries — with momentum particularly strong in markets like India and Pakistan.
The newly raised capital will support product development and drive further adoption of GTM engineering across industries. Clay plans to grow its network of engineers and expand its global community, while also strengthening its partnerships and integrations.
“We're fostering an entire economic ecosystem,” said Amin. “Our goal is to democratize the ability to build scalable revenue systems, regardless of technical background.”
The company also expects to generate $50 million in revenue for its data and integration partners in 2025. Its ecosystem includes 108 GTM-focused agencies around the world, representing hundreds of millions in revenue.
Clay’s platform connects with more than 150 data sources and uses AI agents for research tasks ranging from prospect intelligence to real-world analysis, such as scanning satellite imagery to determine warehouse occupancy. Its technology is enabling a new kind of sales workflow — one that balances automation with tailored, high-quality outreach.
“Clay fights AI spam with precision. While some may worry that AI may create more generic outreach, our customers are using AI to send fewer, dramatically better messages,” said Varun Anand, Clay’s co-founder.
Founded in 2017 by Kareem Amin and joined by Varun Anand in 2021, Clay is headquartered in New York and serves over 10,000 customers worldwide. The company aims to make sales and marketing workflows more intelligent and effective — and it's doing so without requiring users to have technical or coding backgrounds.
Clay’s GTM engineers are now earning median salaries of $160,000 — around 20% higher than traditional sales ops roles. More importantly, the platform is positioning itself as a springboard for entirely new career paths in tech.
“Clay is the first and only company to take an engineering approach to go-to-market,” said Jane Alexander, partner at CapitalG. “After speaking with over 100 sales and marketing leaders, it is clear that Clay is setting the bar for how leading organizations use AI for sales and marketing.”
In addition to CapitalG’s lead role in this round, Clay is supported by an all-star roster of investors, including Sequoia Capital, Meritech Capital, Sapphire Ventures, First Round Capital, BoxGroup, and Boldstart.
The investor group brings experience from backing companies like Stripe, UiPath, and Databricks, underscoring growing conviction in Clay’s role as a foundational AI platform for go-to-market teams.
