Definite has raised a $10 million seed round to build out its AI-native data platform. The round was led by Costanoa, with participation from Acrew Capital and several strategic angels.
Definite positions itself as a single platform that can replace the usual trio of warehouse, ETL, and BI tools. Instead of stitching together Snowflake, Fivetran, and Looker, the company says customers get a secure data lake, pipelines, and dashboards in one place—promising set-up in minutes and claims of being up to 10x faster and cheaper than piecing together legacy stacks.
Many companies still spend months and significant budgets to connect sources, model data, and deliver dashboards across multiple vendors. Definite argues a unified, AI-first approach lowers both time to insight and ongoing cost.
“Teams shouldn't need six months, a half-million-dollar budget, and a team of engineers to get answers about their business,” said Mike Ritchie, CEO and founder of Definite. “We built Definite to make analytics radically simpler. With open-source under the hood and AI powering every interaction, we're giving teams inquiry without the (SQL) queries.”
The company says the seed funding will accelerate product development and go-to-market hiring as it targets larger enterprises. Priorities include expanding enterprise sales and broadening customer onboarding, support, and documentation.
Definite is also growing headcount across engineering and GTM. It describes itself as remote-first with a high-autonomy culture, and is actively hiring for roles tied to enterprise expansion.
Founded in 2023, Definite is an AI-native data platform that combines a data lake, ETL, and BI into one product. It is SOC 2 Type II compliant and built on open-source infrastructure, including DuckDB and Apache Iceberg, to deliver speed and avoid vendor lock-in.
Early adopters include Perfect and Meet Alfred. “We went from zero to data lake in a couple hours and had a high-performance API running minutes later,” said George Papadopoulos, CEO of Meet Alfred. Definite says the product is designed to give business users quick, self-serve answers while maintaining trust in the underlying data.
The round was led by Costanoa, joined by Acrew Capital and strategic angels. Costanoa partner John Cowgill said the firm often sees startups invest heavily in a modern stack that still requires a full data engineering team to get answers.
“Time and time again, we see startups pour millions into a modern data stack—only to end up with something that still requires a full data engineering team to get answers,” said John Cowgill, Partner at Costanoa. “Definite is the answer to that pain: a powerful yet elegant solution that gives business users fast, flexible, and accurate insights without the bottlenecks. It's exactly what modern teams demand—a powerful data platform that makes ad hoc analytics self-serve and fast without sacrificing trust or depth.”
