Donna Secures $1.6M to Revolutionize Sales with AI-Powered Assistant

Donna raises $1.6M to streamline CRM data entry for sales pros with its AI assistant, boosting efficiency
June 20, 2024

Belgian startup Donna has successfully raised $1.6 million in pre-seed funding to transform the way sales professionals manage their customer interactions. The funding round was led by Pitchdrive, known for backing Henchman and Oper Credits, with participation from Everywhere Ventures, Fortino, Syndicate One, and WeLoveFounders.

Donna aims to solve a major pain point for sales professionals: the tedious and time-consuming task of entering information into Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. Co-founder and co-CEO Jonas Deprez highlighted that the average salesperson, often on the move, makes 5-10 prospecting or customer visits daily. Each meeting typically takes about 20 minutes to log into a CRM, time that could be better spent engaging with clients.

To address this, Donna's AI-powered assistant aids sales professionals before, during, and after their interactions. After a sales visit, Donna calls the salesperson to collect details of the meeting and automatically updates the CRM. It even drafts follow-up emails, streamlining the process further. This not only ensures accuracy but also frees up valuable time for salespeople to focus on selling rather than administrative tasks.

Donna integrates seamlessly with popular CRM tools like Salesforce and HubSpot and operates through familiar communication channels such as WhatsApp, iMessage, and email. This flexibility allows sales teams to continue using their preferred tools without disruption.

Since its launch, Donna has attracted 200 active users and garnered interest from major players in industries such as food service, business services, real estate, construction, and growth capital funds. The startup is led by a team of experienced entrepreneurs from the Ghent startup ecosystem. Co-founder Nicolas Christiaen previously founded fintech company Cashforce, which he sold to German payment platform TIS in 2022. Jonas Deprez launched retail data company Daltix, acquired by Colruyt Group in 2023. Xander Berkein served as Team Lead at Belgian unicorn Deliverect, and Lander T’Kindt worked at StarApps, which has produced successful startups like Realo and Bizzy.

With this new funding, Donna plans to attract top talent and accelerate its expansion in the EU and US markets. By reducing the administrative burden of CRM data entry, Donna empowers sales professionals to dedicate more time to what they do best: selling and engaging with customers.

Nicolas Christiaen encapsulated the vision succinctly: “With Donna, every salesperson gets their own personal assistant at a fraction of the cost.” This innovative AI assistant is set to redefine sales efficiency and productivity, making it a game-changer for the industry.
