Military logistics startup Gallatin AI has emerged from stealth with a $15 million seed round led by 8VC, with participation from Silent Ventures, Moonshots Capital, Timeless Partners, and Banter Capital. The company was incubated through 8VC's Build program, known for launching defense-focused startups like Epirus and Saronic.
The funds will be used to further develop Gallatin's AI-native logistics platform, Navigator, and to expand its engineering and deployment teams. Gallatin is currently hiring in Washington, DC, and El Segundo, California, as it builds on pilot programs with major defense partners.
Gallatin is entering a market that’s long overdue for modernization. Traditional military logistics systems struggle in dynamic, high-stress environments—something recent global conflicts have highlighted. Gallatin’s Navigator platform helps military teams predict, plan, and manage logistics operations in contested environments, where rapid and intelligent decision-making is essential.
"Gallatin was founded on the conviction that military logistics urgently needs to evolve beyond outdated tools to effectively respond to modern threats," said Woody Glier, CEO of Gallatin.
Navigator integrates real-time data, suggests AI-generated courses of action, and simulates outcomes—helping logisticians maintain readiness and resilience even in unpredictable scenarios. The goal: to give commanders decision-making support at the pace of modern conflict.
With its seed funding, Gallatin plans to accelerate the development of Navigator while scaling its core team, particularly in engineering and deployment roles. This includes expanding its presence in Washington, DC, and El Segundo, California.
The company is focused on collaborating closely with military branches and allied partners. By bringing in talent with both defense and commercial experience, Gallatin aims to bridge the technological gap between the military and the private sector.
Gallatin was founded in 2024 by Woody Glier, Daniel Buchmueller, and Brian Ballard, who bring deep experience from organizations such as Palantir, Scale AI, Amazon, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the intelligence community. The company’s leadership combines backgrounds in data fusion, AI, logistics optimization, and military operations.
“Global logistics networks are in the midst of a critical transformation, and this shift is particularly vital within defense,” said Jake Medwell, Partner at 8VC. “Gallatin's groundbreaking approach represents a step change in building resilient, responsive supply chains capable of operating from factory loading docks all the way to customers subject to contested conditions.”
The company’s mission is to bring military logistics up to speed with modern software practices used in commercial sectors—and make those capabilities operational in real-world defense environments.
The $15 million round was led by 8VC, a venture capital firm managing over $7 billion and focused on sectors like defense and logistics. Other investors include Silent Ventures, Moonshots Capital, Timeless Partners, and Banter Capital.
“For years, we've seen the growing gap between commercial logistics innovation and the capabilities of our military partners and industrial base,” said Alex Moore, Partner at 8VC. “We partnered with Gallatin's team to close that gap.”
Gallatin is one of several companies launched through 8VC’s Build program, which helps founders tackle critical infrastructure problems with capital, guidance, and operational support.
