Halcyon, an AI platform built for the energy sector, has closed a $21 million Series A round led by Energize Capital, with participation from Zero Infinity Partners, Congruent Ventures, Obvious Ventures, Sabanci Climate Ventures, and additional investors. The San Francisco-based company helps energy professionals navigate an industry that represents up to 10% of global GDP but has long been plagued by fragmented, hard-to-access data.
As part of the deal, Tyler Lancaster, Partner and Co-Head of Ventures at Energize Capital, will join Halcyon's board of directors.
The global energy sector is absorbing trillions of dollars in new investment, driven by the rapid expansion of data centers, electrification, urbanization, and population growth. Yet despite the scale of capital at play, the information infrastructure supporting those decisions has not kept pace. Multi-billion dollar investment calls are regularly made using opaque, incomplete, and fragmented data.
Halcyon was built to fix that. The platform makes complex regulatory and market information searchable and actionable, replacing hours of manual research with precise, AI-generated outputs that are validated by energy domain experts.
"We've been humbled by the breadth of customer interest and use cases we've uncovered over the past two years, and we're just getting started. The energy and AI buildout is one of the defining economic stories of our time, and the opportunity to apply modern compute, machine learning, and AI to it is bigger than we imagined," said Bruce Falck, CEO and co-founder of Halcyon.
Unlike general-purpose AI tools, Halcyon was designed specifically for energy professionals. Its platform draws on the most comprehensive catalog of U.S. energy regulatory data available, spanning all 50 state public utility commissions, every independent system operator and regional transmission organization, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
The company offers two core products. The Halcyon Platform lets users search thousands of regulatory filings and energy datasets using natural language and deploy intelligent alerts that monitor and surface critical market developments in real time. Its customers include hyperscalers and digital infrastructure providers looking to accelerate speed-to-power, financial services firms analyzing market entry opportunities, and energy developers and utilities identifying commercial openings.
The second offering, Halcyon Data Subscriptions, delivers structured, continuously updated datasets purpose-built for energy decision-making. These include the Large Load Tariff Tracker, Gas Power Plant Tracker, Battery Energy Storage System Tracker, Rate Case and Cost-of-Capital Tracker, and New Substation Development Tracker. Together they help data center operators evaluate power availability and substation capacity, energy companies track competitive developments, and financial firms monitor investment signals across the full energy stack.
The Series A proceeds will be used to expand Halcyon's software capabilities, deepen its data advantage, and scale operations to meet growing demand from major energy investors, developers, and operators. The company has identified the current buildout in energy infrastructure as a significant opening and plans to position itself as the primary system of action for the global energy industry.
Tyler Lancaster, Partner and Co-Head of Ventures at Energize Capital, explained the investment thesis. "As the market for energy infrastructure grows, the volume and complexity of energy data crucial to decision-making is becoming increasingly difficult to access and analyze," he said. "In the U.S. alone, up to $850 billion will be invested in power and digital infrastructure in 2026, underscoring the need for timely, high-quality intelligence to inform decisions around capital allocation. Halcyon combines specialized energy industry expertise with a highly customized AI solution that makes it easier for customers to track, query and derive insights from large magnitudes of continuously evolving energy data."
Halcyon was founded in 2023 and is headquartered in San Francisco, California. The company was built on the premise that the energy industry deserves purpose-built intelligence, not generic AI tools adapted to fit a specialized field. Its platform improves productivity, streamlines workflows, and accelerates business growth by helping energy professionals find new sources of value, understand shifting market conditions, and answer complex questions quickly.
The platform's outputs are validated by energy domain experts, which is what sets Halcyon apart from broader AI tools operating in the same space. As demand for energy infrastructure intelligence scales, the company is positioned to grow alongside it.
