Helsinki-based healthtech company Gosta Labs has closed an oversubscribed €7.5 million seed funding round to expand its AI operating system designed specifically for oncology professionals. The round was led by Voima Ventures, with participation from COR Group, Terveystalo, the Aho family, Reaktor, and a group of angel investors.

This latest investment follows a €1.7 million pre-seed round in 2024, bringing total funding to nearly €10 million. The company, founded by the team behind Kaiku Health (acquired by Elekta in 2020), is already working with healthcare providers across Finland, Switzerland, the Baltics, and Australia.

Why Oncology Needs Better Tools

Cancer care is getting more complicated every year. By 2050, experts project more than 35 million new cancer cases annually across over 100 different cancer types. Oncologists today spend hours each day buried in administrative work, navigating fragmented systems and unstructured clinical data. At the same time, they must make fast, high-stakes treatment decisions from an ever-growing list of personalized options.

Gosta Labs tackles this problem head-on. Its AI operating system transforms patient visits into structured data in real time. The platform summarizes and visualizes patient journeys, automates clinical documentation, and captures structured data relevant to ongoing care. It also assesses key clinical parameters for each treatment pathway and links decisions to international guidelines automatically.

The result? Oncologists can deliver faster, more consistent care without drowning in paperwork.

Real Results from the Field

The first real-world findings from Gosta's AI operating system were presented at the ESMO 2025 Congress, one of the world's leading oncology conferences. The data showed that the system generates high-quality consultation notes in real time, structured according to institutional standards. It also classifies Performance Status and CTCAE toxicity grades automatically.

Perhaps most striking: oncologists completed follow-up visit documentation in a median time of under two minutes. That represents a reduction in documentation burden of more than two-thirds per patient visit.

"This technology is already reshaping our clinical workflows. The ability to produce structured, accurate notes instantly and classify key clinical parameters automatically frees oncologists to spend their time where it matters most — with their patients. In practice, this has already cut documentation time by over two-thirds for each patient visit at our cancer center," said Dr. Razvan Popescu, Medical Director at Tumor Center Aargau and lead investigator in the study.

How the Funding Will Be Used

The new capital will help Gosta Labs bring its AI assistant to oncology teams around the world. The company also plans to deepen its medical device grade product development and strengthen its AI foundation. The goal is to make every patient encounter safer, more personal, and less burdened by administrative tasks.

"We started Gosta Labs to bring AI to support extremely complex medical specialties like oncology, to give care teams back time and headspace for their patients by taking on the documentation work that drains their day," said Lauri Sippola, CEO and Co-Founder of Gosta Labs. "This funding helps us bring our trusted AI assistant to oncology teams around the world and deepen our medical device grade product and AI foundation, so every patient encounter can be safer, more personal, and less burdened by administration."

A Team Built for This Challenge

Gosta Labs was founded in 2023 by Lauri Sippola and Henri Viertolahti. The pair previously founded Kaiku Health, a digital health company acquired by Elekta in 2020. That experience gives them a proven track record in building and scaling regulated digital health products globally.

The leadership team combines AI scientists with experienced oncology and medtech professionals. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lionel Hadjadjeba and Chief Operating Officer Reetta Arokoski both bring decades of experience scaling cancer-care technologies internationally.

Backing from Experienced Investors

Voima Ventures led the round, joined by COR Group, Terveystalo, the Aho family, Reaktor, and several angel investors. The mix of healthcare-focused investors and technology specialists reflects confidence in Gosta's approach to solving a real clinical problem.

"Gosta Labs' key team members combine proven startup execution, deep domain expertise and top notch AI capabilities. They've done it before and know what good looks like, which is an essential for any startup team," said Jussi Sainiemi, Partner at Voima Ventures. "There's a lot of hype around AI but Gosta delivers the value it promises and customers love the product."
