ReOrbit, a European space technology company based in Helsinki, has closed a €45 million Series A funding round. The all-equity deal represents Finland's largest Series A round and ranks among the most significant funding deals in Europe's space and defence sector.
Springvest led the investment, with participation from both new and existing backers including Varma, Elo, Icebreaker.vc, Expansion VC, 10x Founders, and Inventure VC.
The global space industry continues to evolve as nations seek greater control over their critical infrastructure. Countries across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe are increasingly looking to reduce their reliance on foreign space systems for sensitive operations.
ReOrbit manufactures sovereign satellites and connected systems that give nations independent communications and intelligence capabilities. Their technology serves both defence and civilian applications, providing customers with full command over critical space assets.
The new capital will expand ReOrbit's manufacturing capacity and accelerate development of proprietary technologies. The company plans to open local satellite centers in several countries over the next 12 months to meet growing international demand.
ReOrbit has secured numerous contracts and expects continued growth across its target markets. The funding will also support the company's expansion into new regions where demand for sovereign space capabilities is rising.
Founded in 2019, ReOrbit has positioned itself as a key player in Europe's space and defence sector. CEO and Founder Sethu Saveda Suvanam established the company with a focus on providing nations with complete control over their space infrastructure.
"Closing a €45 million Series A is a milestone not only for ReOrbit, but for Europe's space and defence sector," said Suvanam. "This investment enables us to meet growing demand, ensuring that nations can operate critical space systems independently and with full control. In today's geopolitical environment, reliance on external parties is a risk no country can accept. ReOrbit ensures they never have to."
The company's current product portfolio includes Silta, a secure satellite communications platform, and Ukko, an advanced intelligence and surveillance system. Beyond manufacturing hardware, ReOrbit provides knowledge transfer and expertise that allow nations to operate and maintain their infrastructure independently over the long term.
The funding round attracted investors who recognize the strategic importance of sovereign space capabilities. Icebreaker VC's Riku Seppälä highlighted the significance of ReOrbit's mission for European strategic autonomy.
"ReOrbit is building capabilities that are central to any country's strategic autonomy. This investment demonstrates our confidence in their ability to deliver sovereign space systems that are essential for national security and resilience," said Seppälä. "We are honoured to be able to continue supporting ReOrbit in continuing to build a company that could become one of the most important companies ever built in Europe."
The diverse investor group brings complementary expertise to support ReOrbit's international expansion plans. The backing from both institutional investors like Varma and Elo, alongside venture capital firms, provides the company with strong financial foundations for scaling operations.
