InsureVision has raised $2.7 million in seed funding to develop its AI-powered platform that enhances vehicle risk assessment. The round was led by Rethink Ventures, with participation from Twin Path Ventures and State Farm Ventures, the investment arm of the world’s largest auto insurer.
The fresh capital will help InsureVision accelerate product development and expand to new markets, with initial trials already underway in the US and plans for Japan in 2025.
As automotive manufacturers and insurers seek smarter ways to assess driver risk and improve road safety, the combined Automotive Risk Understanding and ADAS software markets—currently valued at $21 billion—are projected to exceed $40 billion by 2030.
Traditional telematics and first-gen AI dashcams often miss the bigger picture when it comes to driving risks, focusing on mechanical data like speed and braking. InsureVision takes a different approach, using vision transformer AI to analyze standard forward-facing camera footage, interpreting the full context of each driving situation.
“We’ve created a unique vision transformer,” explains Mark Miller, CEO of InsureVision. “A generative AI technology that, quite literally, learns from what it sees in front of it. This is a more human approach to risk-assessment, it brings the context of the driving situation into the equation, not just the mechanical data on things like speed, braking and acceleration.”
With the $2.7 million seed round, InsureVision plans to accelerate technology development and enhance its proprietary “enviromatics” platform, which provides a comprehensive view of real-time driving risks by understanding both the driving environment and the intentions of other road users.
The funds will also support international expansion, with initial deployments and proof-of-value trials currently running with leading US insurers. Further pilot programs are expected to launch in Japan by mid-2025, with results anticipated later that year.
Founded by serial entrepreneur Mark Miller, InsureVision brings deep experience in applying AI to practical, high-impact industries. Miller previously built and sold Dictate IT, a leading provider of medical speech recognition solutions for the NHS, to Clanwilliam Group in 2018.
InsureVision focuses exclusively on contextual risk assessment for vehicles, targeting sectors including insurance underwriting, fleet management, and automotive safety systems. The platform offers:
“InsureVision’s solution is a no-brainer,” says Gurinder Dhillon, CEO of Otto Cars, Europe’s largest EV leasing fleet and an early adopter of the technology. “By leveraging our existing camera infrastructure with their software layer, we can significantly reduce insurance costs while promoting safer driving behaviors.”
In addition to Rethink Ventures, Twin Path Ventures, and State Farm Ventures, the funding round brings together a strong syndicate of investors with deep expertise in mobility, insurance, and AI innovation.
“We have followed Mark and his team for some time, and they have continuously shown exceptional entrepreneurial vigour and deep tech expertise paired with an unconventional approach,” says Matthias Schanze, General Partner at Rethink Ventures. “Their vision for transforming road safety through AI-powered contextual understanding sets a new standard for the industry.”
“Insurtech is an exciting space because the numbers are huge and even a micro improvement can make a macro impact,” adds Nick Slater from Twin Path Ventures. “InsureVision has one of the most unconventional but potentially impactful ways of reshaping the sector for insurers, fleet operators, and drivers alike.”
