Valencia-based iPronics has raised €20 million in a Series A funding round to accelerate the development of its Optical Networking Engine (ONE). This technology aims to enhance next-generation AI data centres with high-speed, low-latency, and scalable optical networking solutions.
The funding round was led by Triatomic Capital, with participation from Fine Structure Ventures (Fidelity Investments), Bosch Ventures, Amadeus Capital Partners, and Criteria Venture Tech. With this investment, iPronics plans to bring its photonic networking innovations to market, addressing growing AI infrastructure demands.
As AI workloads grow exponentially, data centres face increasing pressure to expand their computing capacity. Traditional electronic switches struggle to handle rising bandwidth demands, leading to bottlenecks in GPU efficiency.
iPronics' Optical Networking Engine introduces an advanced optically switched fabric that allows real-time reconfiguration—1,000 times faster than conventional optical solutions. By enabling larger GPU clusters and optimizing AI workload distribution, the technology significantly enhances training compute capacity and inference speeds.
“This investment will accelerate our Optical Circuit Switch market deployment, allowing customers to build next-gen AI infrastructure,” said Christian Dupont, CEO of iPronics.
Unlike traditional networking hardware, iPronics' solid-state Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) technology eliminates signal loss, enhances reliability, and reduces costs per port. This makes it a crucial solution for AI data centres requiring seamless scalability.
Peter Zhou, General Partner at Triatomic Capital, emphasized the significance of this advancement:
“iPronics has the unique technology and team to advance photonics adoption in data centres and AI clusters. Network fabrics operating entirely at the speed of light are essential to the next-generation compute stack.”
Bosch Ventures and Fine Structure Ventures also voiced strong support, recognizing iPronics' potential to lead the expanding optical networking market for AI-driven computing.
With €20M in fresh funding, iPronics is poised to redefine AI infrastructure through its innovative Optical Networking Engine. By leveraging the power of photonics, the company aims to deliver unparalleled speed, efficiency, and scalability—critical components for the next era of AI innovation.
As demand for high-performance computing accelerates, iPronics' optical networking solutions could set a new industry standard, enabling AI data centres to operate at the speed of light.
