Lambda has announced a $480 million Series D round, bringing its total funding to $863 million. The round was co-led by Andra Capital and SGW, with participation from new investors including Andrej Karpathy, ARK Invest, Fincadia Advisors, G Squared, In-Q-Tel (IQT), KHK & Partners, and NVIDIA, among others. Pegatron, Supermicro, Wistron, and Wiwynn also made strategic investments, and existing backers such as 1517, Crescent Cove, and USIT returned. No valuation figures have been disclosed.
According to Lambda, this significant infusion of capital will support further expansion of its AI-focused platform. JPMorgan served as the private placement agent for the financing, underscoring the growing market interest in companies that offer infrastructure, cloud services, and software for AI developers.
“AI is fundamentally restructuring our economy. Lambda is investing billions of dollars to build the software platform and infrastructure powering AI,” said Lambda CEO and co-founder Stephen Balaban. “We build software tools that delight the AI Developer, and a platform that truly puts AI into the hands of the many. This investment will accelerate the expansion of the Lambda Cloud platform, Lambda Model Inference API, and Lambda Chat AI Assistant.”
As more organizations integrate artificial intelligence into their workflows, demand continues to rise for high-performance, developer-friendly cloud solutions. Lambda addresses this need by focusing on fast, reliable, and secure GPU-based compute environments that lower the barriers to entry for AI projects.
Lambda plans to use the new funds to strengthen its public cloud offerings, including its 1-Click Clusters feature, which streamlines the process of training complex AI models at scale. By building on a sizable base of owned GPU infrastructure, the company can also offer developers flexible and cost-effective solutions for deep learning tasks.
Additionally, resources will support Lambda’s Model Inference API and Chat AI Assistant. These services host open-source models such as DeepSeek R1, aimed at enabling users to perform inferencing quickly without needing to acquire and manage their own servers. Future efforts will likely involve further software enhancements to simplify AI development across multiple industries.
Founded in 2012 by AI engineers with a track record of publishing at top-tier machine learning conferences, Lambda has grown with a clear mission in mind: to provide ubiquitous and affordable access to computation for AI developers. The company’s motto, “One person, one GPU,” reflects its drive to democratize advanced computing resources.
Led by CEO and co-founder Stephen Balaban, Lambda’s team builds both cloud-based and on-premises solutions. The goal is to empower developers to train and deploy AI models more efficiently, without navigating prohibitively high costs or operational hurdles.
“We’re confident that Lambda’s solutions will be central to powering the next wave of AI-driven innovation and delivering tangible value across industries,” said Paul Tuan, Managing Partner of Andra Capital. Alongside Andra Capital and SGW, numerous other investors—both new and longstanding—continue to show faith in Lambda’s vision and technical expertise.
This latest round brings Lambda’s total equity funding to $863 million. The capital marks another major milestone in the company’s journey from a smaller AI-focused firm to a robust platform serving a global user base.
