BeeSpeaker has closed a €2 million seed funding round led by Movens Capital, with participation from SpeedUp Venture Capital Group and several international angel investors. The mobile language learning startup, which focuses on speaking skills through AI-powered virtual tutors, already serves over 60,000 paying users across more than 100 countries.
The funding comes as BeeSpeaker recently broke into the top 30 highest-grossing language learning apps globally. The company projects €5 million in revenue for 2025, representing approximately 4x year-over-year growth from its current performance.
Despite 230 million app downloads and $60 billion spent annually on language learning, most of the world's 1.5 billion learners never actually learn to speak. They master word recognition but struggle with real conversations. Traditional apps focus heavily on grammar drills and gamified tapping exercises, while learners consistently report that speaking remains their biggest challenge.
BeeSpeaker takes a different approach. The app replicates personal tutoring through short videos featuring native speakers, followed by spoken practice sessions. Every exercise requires users to speak aloud rather than tap through multiple-choice questions. The AI technology assesses pronunciation, responds conversationally, and adjusts difficulty based on individual progress.
The new capital will drive BeeSpeaker's expansion into 16 key markets while supporting the launch of additional languages beyond English. The company plans to introduce German and French courses, building on the Spanish course released earlier this year.
BeeSpeaker will also invest in AI personalization features and expanded product functionality. The startup aims to leverage its efficient 13-person team structure to maintain rapid development cycles while scaling user acquisition efforts.
Founded in 2022 by Karol Wegner and Bartosz Pieślak, BeeSpeaker emerged from the founders' experience building a 120-person mobile development agency. This technical background has enabled the company to achieve remarkable efficiency, reaching top-30 status with a lean team structure.
"Most learners don't want to become grammar experts. They want to feel confident speaking," said Karol Wegner, co-founder and CEO. "There's a growing consensus among language experts that the most effective approach mirrors how children learn: listening, repeating, and trying without fear. That clicked for me watching my kids pick up Spanish naturally. We built BeeSpeaker around that principle from day one. You're talking aloud and having real conversations, not tapping through flashcards."
The company operates from Warsaw, Poland, and Stockholm, Sweden. BeeSpeaker creates all content in-house, designing immersive and interactive experiences where users engage with native speakers through short-form videos and conversational prompts that simulate real-life scenarios like ordering food or attending job interviews.
Bartosz Pieślak, co-founder and COO, emphasized the company's focus-driven growth strategy. "That focus on what users actually need has paid off. We've cracked the top 30 global language learning apps with just 13 people. That efficiency is our superpower. While others chase scale at any cost, we've grown 4x by obsessing over what our users actually want. Now we're ready to take that same ruthless focus and go after the top 5."
Artur Banach, Managing Partner at Movens Capital, highlighted the founders' unique positioning. "Karol and Bartosz bring rare depth as founders. Having built and scaled a successful software consultancy with a focus on mobile apps gives them an unfair advantage and the technical intuition and executional discipline to move fast and make smart bets. They've timed their adoption of AI technology perfectly, but what sets them apart is how closely they listen to users and iterate accordingly. This shows in the standout metrics across growth, retention, and engagement they are delivering."
BeeSpeaker has been an early adopter of AI technology and is currently experimenting with AI-generated video tutors to scale content production. Advanced learners can engage in free-form AI conversations, while beginners benefit from structured, video-led lessons. Over the next 12 months, the company aims to break into the top 10 global language learning apps by revenue, with plans for a Series A round in 2026.
