Lanner Teams Up with Nybsys for Edge-Cloud RAN

Lanner Electronics has forged a dynamic partnership with Nybsys, a prominent telecommunications solutions provider
February 26, 2024

In an exciting development for the telecommunications industry, Lanner Electronics and Nybsys have officially announced a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to advance Edge-Cloud RAN technologies, combining Lanner's scalable edge server ECA-5540, powered by Intel Xeon processors and Intel FlexRAN reference software, with Nybsys’ innovative 5G K-RAN platform. The goal is to accelerate the deployment of high-speed, ultra-low latency radio access networks with enhanced security, reliability, and flexibility.

Lanner's ECA-5540, featuring front I/O, a short chassis, and wide operating temperature design, is equipped with 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, optimized for virtualization performance and power efficiency. With support for up to 1024GB DDR5 memory and PCIe expansions for multiple AI accelerators, it enables telecom operators to deliver software-defined, virtualized network services with secure, high-speed connections.

Nybsys' K-RAN platform offers baseband consolidation, enabling efficient processing of signals from multiple cell sites using a single edge server. Flexible and upgradeable to 5G through software updates, it provides a high-capacity, gig-speed RAN solution suitable for large indoor areas, meeting the need for low latency in enterprise 5G applications. This collaboration promises to deliver a high-performance, cost-effective RAN solution compared to traditional offerings.

Expressing enthusiasm about the partnership, Jeans Tseng, CTO of Lanner, emphasized their commitment to delivering scalable 5G RAN solutions without compromising performance. Moshtaq Ahmed, CEO of Nybsys, highlighted the collaboration's leverage of combined expertise, Intel FlexRAN reference software, and Intel Xeon processors to provide telecom operators with the flexibility and choice needed in today's open, interoperable networks.

As the telecommunications industry embraces open and disaggregated architectures, the collaboration between Lanner and Nybsys represents a significant stride towards shaping the future of Open RAN. This partnership marks a crucial step forward in providing uninterrupted connectivity for mission-critical applications and reaching underserved populations globally.
