LetsData, a Ukrainian startup tackling digital disinformation, has secured $1.6 million in pre-seed funding. The company plans to use the investment to expand its AI-powered InfoOps detection technology in the United States and Europe, meeting growing demand from organizations grappling with sophisticated information threats.
After two years of bootstrapping, LetsData achieved an annual revenue rate of $1 million. The funding round was led by Wayra, Telefónica’s innovation arm, and Google’s Ukraine Support Fund, with participation from SMOK Ventures, Tilia Impact Ventures, 1991 Ventures, Startup Wise Guys, and notable angel investors.
In today’s digital landscape, disinformation poses significant threats, from influencing elections to damaging corporate reputations. LetsData’s real-time security radar provides organizations with actionable intelligence to counter these risks effectively.
The platform’s effectiveness was demonstrated earlier this year when it identified a botnet spreading Russian-sanctioned content at 86 posts per second across social media and fake news sites. By uncovering this behavior, LetsData enabled immediate response measures, showcasing its value in combating coordinated disinformation campaigns.
LetsData’s advanced AI technology processes data from over 100 million websites and social platforms in more than 50 languages. This capability includes analyzing text and video metadata from platforms like Telegram, YouTube, and TikTok.
By linking and grouping content across multiple sources, the platform detects intent and coordination behind information operations. According to LetsData, this approach identifies 80% more threats at their inception compared to traditional tools, helping organizations address risks before they escalate.
Founded during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, LetsData has filled a crucial gap in information operations (InfoOps) detection. Organizations often lack the resources or expertise to manage disinformation effectively, relying on understaffed teams or communications departments.
“LetsData bridges this gap by offering a security-first approach to InfoOps, enabling clients to act on alerts from day one without complex training,” said co-founder Ksenia Iliuk. “Our ambition is to become the industry standard for InfoOps detection.”
Investors have expressed strong confidence in LetsData’s mission and team. Borys Musielak of SMOK Ventures highlighted the founders’ ability to bootstrap their way to profitability, while Gonzalo Pérez of Wayra Germany emphasized the importance of LetsData’s proprietary technology in addressing the increasingly sophisticated methods of threat actors.
With its fresh funding, LetsData is poised to scale its operations and integrate actionable threat intelligence into the workflows of governments and corporations. By enabling real-time, proactive responses to disinformation and synthetic identity threats, the company is setting a new standard for InfoOps defense.
