London-Based PhysicsX Secures $32M in Series A Funding

Here, generative AI takes center stage, accelerating the birth of groundbreaking solutions for capturing clean energy
November 30, 2023

Enter the future of engineering with PhysicsX, a London-based startup that's breaking barriers in advanced industries through the transformative power of generative AI. In a groundbreaking move, PhysicsX has raised an impressive $32 million in a Series A funding round led by General Catalyst, known for backing industry giants like Airbnb, Deliveroo, and Stripe. Other key participants in the funding round include Standard InvestmentsNGPRadius Capital, and the notable Henry Kravis, co-founder and co-executive chairman of KKR.

Generative AI is not just a buzzword; it's the driving force behind a new era in engineering, spanning automotive, aerospace, renewables, and materials production. In the automotive sector, it's reshaping vehicle design for optimal performance and fuel efficiency. In aerospace, it's crafting lighter, more aerodynamic components, contributing to enhanced aircraft efficiency and reduced environmental impact. And in renewables, generative AI is fast-tracking the development of innovative solutions for clean energy harnessing, steering the course toward a sustainable power generation future.

Founded by Robin Tuluie and Jacomo Corbo, PhysicsX emerges from stealth mode with a clear mission — to empower engineers across various sectors. This deep tech company, born out of numerical physics and Formula One, operates at the intersection of advanced Computer Aided Engineering, physics simulation, and machine learning. With a team of over 50 experts, including engineers, machine learning specialists, and data scientists, PhysicsX is set to revolutionize engineering practices.

The $32 million infusion will catapult PhysicsX into accelerated growth, focusing on customer delivery, platform engineering, and fundamental research. This funding will not only expand the capabilities of PhysicsX's tooling but also advance its AI models and methods, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in engineering.

As part of the Series A round, PhysicsX welcomes entrepreneur Jim Baum, General Catalyst XIR, to its Board, bringing over 25 years of experience in growing and managing cutting-edge technology businesses. Jeremy Palmer, former Chairman and CEO of QuantumBlack and a former Senior Partner at McKinsey, also joins as Chairman, further strengthening PhysicsX's leadership.

Robin Tuluie, founder and co-CEO of PhysicsX, envisions a transformation in engineering design processes. Moving from numerical simulation to deep learning represents a leap that unlocks new levels of product performance and redefines how engineering is practiced. PhysicsX stands as a pioneer, offering engineers and manufacturers the superpowers they need to bring new technologies to the real world.

PhysicsX is not just a startup; it's a catalyst for change, shaping the landscape of engineering with innovation, expertise, and the unlimited potential of generative AI. The $32 million in funding is not just an investment; it's a vote of confidence in the future PhysicsX is creating — a future where engineering knows no bounds.
