Lupa, an AI-powered operating system for veterinary clinics, has raised $20 million in Series A funding. The round was led by European venture capital firm Singular, with participation from existing investor firstminute capital and angel investors including Michael Callahan. This brings the company's total funding to $25 million, just five months after its seed round.
The fresh capital will support the expansion of Lupa's AI agent suite, fuel international growth, and launch what the company calls the world's first Veterinary AI Lab. Since its seed round, Lupa has achieved 50x revenue growth.
The global petcare market is valued at over $350 billion and continues to expand. Yet the veterinary industry lags far behind others when it comes to technology. Many large veterinary groups still operate on systems built in the 1990s, which limits both clinical efficiency and business performance.
Lupa was founded in 2023 by Nicolò Frisiani and Matei Bjola, both former BCG consultants, along with Raul Lozano Martin, who previously worked at Meta. The idea came to life during a project for one of the world's largest veterinary groups, where the founders were asked to improve the company's technology infrastructure. They quickly realized that outdated systems were acting like a leash on productivity. Instead of advising from the outside, they decided to build the solution themselves.
"Our vision is to build the world's petcare platform. And it is resonating: with clients, investors, and above all, talent. If there is a team that can achieve this bold vision, it is ours," said Nicolò Frisiani, Co-Founder & CEO of Lupa.
Today, Lupa replaces more than seven separate tools—including practice management systems, mobile apps for pet owners, in-patient tools, and AI scribes—with one enterprise-grade platform built for AI from the ground up. This all-in-one approach means clinics using Lupa achieve double the return on investment compared to those running a mix of disconnected legacy systems. The company backs this with strong customer service to ensure each clinic extracts full value from the platform.
Beyond the clinic, Lupa is changing the experience for millions of pet owners. Through a single mobile app, pet parents can book appointments instantly, send secure messages to their vet, make payments, and access a live digital pet health passport that stores records, vaccinations, and reminders. The platform also features an AI-powered receptionist that answers calls, schedules appointments in seconds, and ensures no care request is missed. By linking both sides of the relationship in real time, Lupa creates an integrated bridge between veterinarians and pet owners.
Lupa's team combines top-tier tech talent with deep veterinary knowledge. The roster includes alumni from Meta, Google, Amazon, Palantir, PayPal, DeepMind, C3.ai, BCG, McKinsey, Bain, Doctolib, and Rocket Internet. It also includes veterinary professionals and operators from ezyVet, PetsApp, IVC, Medivet, and Mars Veterinary Health. This blend of engineering skill, transformation experience, and petcare insight drives the company's rapid product development and adoption across both independent clinics and large enterprise groups.
Lupa has already secured multi-year agreements with leading veterinary groups in the UK and Europe. These partnerships will see the AI-native software deployed across hundreds of clinics. The company's intuitive, product-led design makes it attractive to both consolidators and independent practices, delivering measurable outcomes:
The impact is most visible on the ground. "Lupa saves me at least an hour per day. It absolutely changed my day-to-day veterinary life, ensuring I have far more time to spend treating my patients rather than working at my computer," says Dr. Rebecca Castle, a London-based vet.
With this funding, Lupa is launching a dedicated Veterinary AI Lab to develop safe, clinically robust AI tools for veterinary care. The lab will be led by Mr. Guler, formerly of C3.ai, and supported by engineers from DeepMind, Meta AI, and Palantir.
The lab will function as both a product and research hub. It will develop AI agents to support every stage of veterinary care, from reception through diagnosis. The team will also publish peer-reviewed research, collaborate with universities and regulators, and help establish global standards for ethical AI in petcare.
Investors see strong potential in Lupa's approach. "Lupa is helping veterinary clinics enter a modern era and expand the services they can offer. With world-class engineers from DeepMind, Meta and Palantir working hand-in-hand with veterinary professionals, Lupa combines the best of tech and petcare expertise to re-imagine the entire veterinary experience for patients and clinicians. The case is clear and the ROI is strong the instant the platform is live," said Raffi Kamber, Co-Founder & GP at Singular.
Lorcan Delaney, Principal at firstminute capital, added: "Backing exceptional founders is at the heart of what we do at firstminute, and Lupa exemplifies this. Nicolò, Matei, and Raul combine deep strategic insight with world-class technical execution, assembling a team capable of redefining veterinary care worldwide. In just a few short months, they have executed with extraordinary speed and precision, demonstrating that their AI-first approach delivers measurable impact for clinics and vets alike. This Series A is a testament to the remarkable progress they've made since our seed investment, and we're thrilled to continue supporting them as they scale globally and set a new standard for the $350B petcare market."
