MAIA Technology, a London-based software company, has secured £4 million in Series A funding led by Molten Ventures. The investment will help the fintech firm expand its portfolio management platform designed for hedge funds and asset managers. Mountside Ventures advised MAIA on the fundraise.
The funding comes at a time when investment managers are increasingly looking to replace outdated systems with modern software solutions. MAIA's cloud-native platform addresses this need by bringing together portfolio analysis, compliance, and trading workflows into a single system that provides real-time transparency.
Many firms in the asset management industry still depend on manual processes and aging technology that limits their ability to make quick, informed decisions. MAIA's platform tackles this problem by consolidating data from multiple sources and creating one reliable source of information for all users.
The software supports flexible workflows and automated compliance while delivering analytics that help managers understand their portfolios better. This approach allows investment teams to spend less time wrestling with technology and more time focusing on strategy.
"Despite the scale of the fund and asset management space, many firms still rely on outdated, manual processes that slow decision-making down. There's a clear need for modern, purpose-built software that streamlines workflows and improves transparency," says Luke Smith, Head of Early Investing at Molten Ventures.
MAIA will use the new funding to develop additional platform features and expand integrations with other systems used by investment managers. The company also plans to increase its presence across the broader asset management sector.
As programmatic approaches play a bigger role in how portfolios are managed, the need for agile data management continues to grow. MAIA's technology is built to meet this demand while remaining adaptable to different firms' specific needs.
MAIA Technology was founded in 2019 by a team with firsthand experience in investment operations. CEO Mark Veevers leads a group of professionals who come from both asset management and software development backgrounds. The company originally spun out from Fulcrum, a prominent asset manager.
This combination of expertise shows in how the platform is designed. Rather than creating generic software, the team has built tools that reflect actual workflows and challenges investment managers face daily. Early customers have been involved closely in shaping the product's development.
The platform integrates into existing systems through an open, API-driven architecture. This gives firms the flexibility to adopt pre-configured workflows or customize the software to match their specific operating models.
"MAIA has grown by staying focused on doing a few things well: building a robust platform, executing with discipline and developing our product in close partnership with our clients. By combining deep domain expertise with flexible technology, we provide clarity, control and confidence across core investment and operational workflows, while keeping clients at the centre of every decision we make," says Mark Veevers.
Molten Ventures is one of Europe's prominent venture capital firms, focusing on high-growth technology companies. The firm's portfolio includes companies like Revolut, Ledger, and ICEYE. Along with existing shareholders, Molten Ventures sees significant potential in MAIA's approach to modernizing investment operations.
"MAIA Technology is uniquely positioned to take on this responsibility, and we've been impressed by the team's sector expertise and understanding of the market. This is reflected in the product's thoughtful design and their close relationship with early customers. We're confident that MAIA's focus and ambition will position them as a key player when it comes to supporting portfolio management," adds Smith.
The company serves ambitious investment firms worldwide, providing them with tools that offer control and visibility without the limitations of older systems.
"This investment marks an important next phase for MAIA. With strong foundations in place and an exceptional team driving the platform forward, we are well positioned to accelerate product development and deepen our operational capabilities. We are grateful to our clients, to Molten Ventures and to our existing shareholders for their continued trust and support as we build the next stage of the business together," concludes Veevers.
