Cybersecurity company Method Security announced $26 million in combined Seed and Series A funding to accelerate deployment of its autonomous cyber platform. The capital will support the company's work with U.S. Government agencies and critical enterprises across multiple sectors.

Andreessen Horowitz and General Catalyst led the funding rounds. Additional investors include Blackstone Innovations Investments, Crossbeam Ventures (Michael Ovitz), NFDG, Forward Deployed Ventures, Pax Ventures, WndrCo, and several notable tech executives. Phil Venables (Strategic Security Advisor at Google), Frederic Kerrest (co-founder of Okta and 515 Ventures), Ryan Noon (Chairman of Material Security), and Aaron Levie (CEO of Box) participated in the rounds.

Addressing Modern Cyber Threats

"America's critical institutions have been thrown into perpetual cyber conflict without the tools they need to win, while AI is enabling our adversaries to operate at unprecedented scale," said co-founder and CEO Sam Jones. "At Method, we build systems that safely harness autonomy to deliver a decisive advantage to the teams defending what matters most."

The company's approach responds to an environment where state actors increasingly weaponize AI capabilities. Traditional security tools struggle to keep pace with threats that now move at machine speed, creating an urgent need for new defensive systems.

Platform Architecture and Capabilities

Method combines offensive and defensive capabilities into a unified platform. The system enables operators to achieve visibility across their infrastructure, test their defenses, and respond faster than potential adversaries.

The platform integrates diverse data sources into a digital twin, providing operators with an interconnected map of resources, configurations, and exposures. This foundation allows the system to simulate autonomous attacks with high precision while maintaining trust and control. By continuously testing defenses, organizations can identify vulnerabilities before adversaries exploit them.

Dual-Use Mission and Customer Base

Method was founded as a dual-use company, serving both government and commercial clients. This approach reflects the company's core mission of defending America's critical institutions against sophisticated cyber threats.

The platform is already deployed with customers across the Department of Defense, U.S. Federal Government, and Fortune 500 companies. Method's technology addresses security challenges facing organizations that manage sensitive data and critical infrastructure.

"Cyber resilience requires a system that applies autonomy for both offense and defense. We believe Method is building the team and platform our critical institutions need to defend themselves in this new paradigm," said Mark Crane, Partner at General Catalyst.

Team Background and Expertise

The company was founded in 2023 by CEO Sam Jones, CTO Sean Hacker, and President Daniel Kelly. The founding team brings extensive technical and operational expertise from organizations including Palantir, NSA, U.S. Air Force, CIA, AWS, CrowdStrike, Shield AI, and Microsoft.

This combination of government intelligence experience and enterprise technology backgrounds positions Method to understand the security requirements of both sectors. Headquartered in New York City and Washington, D.C., the company operates close to both commercial tech hubs and government decision-makers.

Investor Perspective on Market Need

"Cyber conflict is moving at machine speed," said David Ulevitch, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz. "With state actors now weaponizing AI at scale, U.S. cyber operators need new autonomous systems to compete. Method is building the first system that truly operationalizes autonomy for cyber defense: a platform that can continuously test, adapt, and strengthen our most critical institutions. Their team and technology are built to deliver that advantage."

The funding will support Method's continued development and deployment of autonomous security systems designed to protect critical American infrastructure and institutions.
