Modus, an AI-native audit technology platform and holding company, has raised $85 million in combined Seed and Series A funding. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Comma Capital and Garry Tan.
The capital will accelerate Modus's technology development and support its strategy of investing in and partnering with audit-first accounting firms.
Accounting has long been one of the last professional services sectors to see meaningful technology adoption. Modus is built to change that. The company combines proprietary AI, regulatory expertise, and a disciplined investment approach to help accounting firms modernize without disrupting what already works.
Rather than replacing firms, Modus partners with them. It preserves existing teams, client relationships, and professional culture while providing modern tooling designed to improve audit quality, efficiency, and scalability.
"Audits serve as the cornerstone for trust in our capital markets, yet the underlying tools and workflows have not meaningfully changed in decades," said Arush Jain, Co-Founder and CEO of Modus. "This funding allows us to invest aggressively in AI-enabled audit tooling while partnering with exceptional firms that want to lead the profession forward, without sacrificing quality or culture."
Funding will be directed at three priorities: continued development of Modus's AI platform, expansion of its audit-focused product capabilities, and additional investments in accounting firms that share its long-term vision.
The platform is purpose-built for complex audits. It enables auditors to automate manual procedures, sharpen risk assessment, and spend more time on the work that requires real professional judgment. The goal is a scaled platform capable of serving sophisticated clients across industries while preserving the trust and rigor the profession demands.
Despite being founded in 2025, Modus has already demonstrated notable early progress. Since launching in June, the company has made an investment in a top 200 accounting firm, as ranked by Inside Public Accounting, with over $30 million in annual revenue. Through the deployment of Modus's platform, that firm is expected to more than double its organic growth rate in 2026. A meaningful pipeline of additional partner firms is already in place.
Modus was founded by Arush Jain, Pranav Pillai, and Vinay Kasat. The team brings together experience from Palantir, Citadel, Ramp, Thoma Bravo, Bridgewater, and AWS.
The company is advised by Jim Burton, former Chief Auditor at Grant Thornton; Brian Blaha, former Chief Growth Officer at Wipfli; and the former CEO of a top 10 accounting firm. That advisory bench signals the seriousness with which Modus is approaching both the product and the professional standards required to operate in this space.
Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round. The firm manages over $50 billion in assets and has backed companies including Anthropic, Databricks, Snap, and Wiz.
"Public accounting has been historically underserved by technology," said Isaac Kim and Amish Desai, Partners at Lightspeed. "Modus intends to drive the industry forward with thoughtful product philosophy and a partnership-first approach that earns the trust of each firm they invest in."
Justin Overdorff, also a Partner at Lightspeed, added: "The Modus team has driven highly effective automation in key audit workflows and meaningfully increased efficiencies for firms performing audits, and we are excited to partner with them in building the world's first AI native audit technology for accounting firms."
Comma Capital and investor Garry Tan also participated in the round.
