Oracle Commits Over $1 Billion to AI and Cloud Computing in Spain

New investment to boost cloud infrastructure and innovation in Spanish enterprises
June 21, 2024

Oracle has announced a major investment of over $1 billion in artificial intelligence and cloud computing in Spain over the next decade. This strategic move aims to meet the growing demand for Oracle's services in the region.

The substantial investment will be channeled into establishing a new cloud region in Spain. This infrastructure will enable customers to migrate workloads from their own data centers to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Additionally, it will help Spanish businesses comply with key regulations such as the European Union's Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and the European Outsourcing Guidelines.

This will be Oracle’s third cloud region in Madrid, following the first one launched in 2022. The company has teamed up with Telefónica España for this ambitious project. "We are reaffirming our commitment to helping Spanish organizations of all sizes and industries accelerate the adoption of cloud technologies to boost business performance," stated Albert Triola, Oracle Spain’s country leader.

Spain's Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, José Luis Escrivá, highlighted the importance of this investment: "It will enable Spanish enterprises and public sector organizations to innovate with AI and continue advancing on their digital transformation journeys."

Oracle’s recent forecast suggests a strong growth trajectory, with expected double-digit revenue increases for fiscal 2025, surpassing analysts' estimates. This optimistic outlook reflects the robust demand for Oracle’s AI-powered cloud services.

Moreover, Oracle has announced new partnerships with AI leader OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, and Google Cloud. These collaborations aim to expand Oracle's cloud infrastructure offerings to a broader customer base, further solidifying its position in the AI and cloud computing markets.

Oracle's significant investment underscores its dedication to fostering innovation and supporting the digital transformation of Spanish businesses and public sector organizations. This commitment is poised to drive substantial advancements in AI and cloud computing across Spain.
