Patlytics, an AI-powered platform focused on streamlining patent management, has completed a $14 million Series A round. The financing was led by global venture firm Next47, with participation from Google’s Gradient Ventures, 8VC, Alumni Ventures, Liquid 2 Ventures, and Myriad Venture Partners. This new funding brings Patlytics’ total raised to $21 million over the past nine months, underlining both its rapid growth and strong market interest.

A Shifting Landscape for Patent Management

As patent portfolios grow, organizations need more efficient ways to handle prosecution, litigation, and ongoing evaluation. Patlytics addresses this gap with large language models (LLMs) and generative AI specifically tailored to intellectual property tasks. This approach is designed to reduce attorney hours, cut costs, and clarify crucial patent details for corporate legal teams, law firms, and innovators.

“Patlytics represents a significant step towards improving the efficiency of the patent eco-system. Patlytics can automatically conduct technical discovery, generating detailed claim charts for validity and infringement purposes that would traditionally require expensive experts and countless attorney hours,” said Bob Steinberg, Patlytics advisory board member, and former global chair of the IP Litigation Practice at Latham & Watkins LLP. “By generating confidential, detailed, and unbiased analysis, Patlytics’ goal is to ensure that parties involved in patent conflict resolution can have cost-effective access to critical information, helping to minimize gaps and discrepancies in understanding, facilitating negotiations, transactions, settlements, and more efficient litigation.”

Where the New Capital Will Go

Patlytics plans to use this new infusion of funds to grow its team of patent attorneys, seasoned software engineers, and domain experts, ensuring it can meet increasing demand. According to CEO and co-founder Paul Lee, “We’ve entered a pivotal moment in legal tech where AI can drive an immense amount of value, even within the complex and nuanced realm of intellectual property. Our platform’s ability to deliver efficiency and insights with generative AI is fundamentally transforming the patent lifecycle. Today’s investment will help Patlytics grow our best-in-class team, deploy new product enhancements, and provide exceptional value to customers on a global scale.”

Key product developments will focus on tools that generate patent applications from invention disclosures in minutes, conduct infringement detection, and offer more nuanced portfolio management. Patlytics also plans to invest in new AI features for standard essential patent (SEP) analysis, invalidity assessments, and real-time collaboration, ensuring its platform remains comprehensive and user-friendly.

Behind the AI-Driven Patent Platform

Founded by a team of patent attorneys, entrepreneurs, and engineering leaders, Patlytics delivers advanced solutions that address the complexities of intellectual property management. Its generative AI workflows have been quickly adopted by major corporations, including Google, Koch Disruptive Technologies, Xerox, and leading law firms like Quinn Emanuel and Richardson Oliver Law Group.

One recent addition to the leadership team is Eric Lin, who brings more than a decade of IP litigation experience from top-tier firms such as Paul Hastings LLP, Morrison & Foerster LLP, and Baker Botts LLP. As vice president of strategy, Lin will help refine Patlytics’ product roadmap and expand the company’s presence in strategic markets worldwide.

Patlytics’ commitment to AI-driven patent solutions is further reinforced by its advisory board of legal and tech veterans from companies like Google, IBM, Datadog, Koch Companies, and the law firm Latham & Watkins LLP. Collectively, they guide the platform’s vision and help ensure it serves as a holistic, secure resource for managing patents and related tasks.

Major Backers and Rapid Funding Growth

Beyond Next47, the company’s investor roster includes Gradient Ventures, 8VC, Alumni Ventures, Liquid 2 Ventures, and Myriad Venture Partners. Each of these firms brings specialized insights in artificial intelligence, enterprise software, or legal technology. Their continued support reinforces Patlytics’ momentum and underscores the platform’s proven benefits for a growing list of enterprise clients.

Raising $21 million in total over just nine months illustrates how quickly Patlytics has gained traction in the legal tech arena. By focusing on AI for patent drafting, analysis, and oversight, the platform has positioned itself for long-term success.
