Tempe-based Persefoni AI, a software platform for sustainability management, has announced an additional $23 million in Series C funding. The round included participation from a blend of new and existing investors, including TPG Rise, Rice Investment Group, Clearvision Ventures, NGP Energy Technology Partners, Prelude Ventures, and the company’s Co-Founder and CEO, Kentaro Kawamori. Notably, a leading European luxury fashion house also joined the investor lineup.
This latest extension raises Persefoni's total funding to $179 million, positioning the company for continued growth and a push toward profitability. According to Kawamori, “This latest capital raise is a milestone for Persefoni as we enter our sixth year, and expect it will carry us through to profitability as early as the second half of 2025.”
Persefoni operates in the fast-evolving space of sustainability management, offering software tools for carbon accounting and ESG reporting. The company serves enterprises and financial institutions navigating regulatory pressure and growing stakeholder expectations around sustainability. With increasing demand for transparency in emissions reporting, the company’s platform is positioned as a core utility for modern organizations.
“Our AI offerings - a cornerstone of our work - continue to expand significantly,” said Kawamori. The company is addressing critical pain points in the sustainability sector through tech innovation, including smart emission factor matching and physical risk modeling.
The new capital will support Persefoni’s ambitious roadmap, including new product development and continued AI innovation. Recent developments include the March 2024 launch of Persefoni Pro, a free, self-guided product for SMBs, which has already attracted over 6,000 organic sign-ups. The tool is designed to democratize access to sustainability reporting within the supply chains of large enterprises.
In 2025, Persefoni expects to launch several new features, including a Product Carbon Footprint/LCA capability, enhanced audit and control tools, and a self-serve analytics builder. Additional AI-powered tools focused on energy and utility bill management are also in development.
The company’s evolution from an enterprise-only platform to a model that includes a self-service tier reflects its intent to broaden its market reach. Persefoni Pro has been expanded to support multi-framework sustainability reporting—free of charge—on top of its core carbon accounting features.
“We’ve continued to innovate at a breakneck pace,” said Kawamori. “You can expect even more AI innovation from Persefoni,” he added, referencing recent breakthroughs that are expected to result in new product releases next year.
Founded in 2020 by Kentaro Kawamori, Persefoni provides Sustainability Management and carbon accounting software to enterprises and financial institutions. The company is headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, and has quickly become a key player in the ESG software category.
Its leadership includes industry veterans committed to building scalable tools for climate transparency. Persefoni’s mission centers on enabling organizations to calculate, manage, and report their carbon footprints in line with global standards.
Persefoni’s investors span a diverse network of financial, venture, and strategic backers. Alongside recent participants, the company has previously received support from Clearvision Ventures, NGP Energy Technology Partners, Prelude Ventures, and TPG Rise. The involvement of a major European fashion house underscores growing interest in climate tech from non-traditional sectors.
The company’s ability to maintain investor confidence over several rounds of funding highlights both the long-term vision and growing relevance of Persefoni’s solutions.
