Autism care provider Positive Development has raised $51.5 million in Series C funding to support the expansion of its developmental therapy model across the U.S. The round was co-led by new investor aMoon and existing backers B Capital and Flare Capital Partners, with participation from Healthworx, Digitalis Ventures, and others.
The company, which offers an alternative to traditional Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, plans to use the new capital to extend its national footprint, grow payer partnerships, and enhance its technology and AI platform. Positive Development’s model is currently covered by major health plans and state Medicaid programs under both fee-for-service and value-based contracts.
The U.S. autism care system is grappling with rising diagnoses and mounting costs. Traditional ABA programs can cost $50,000–$70,000 per child annually—before factoring in additional therapies. This has created urgent demand among families and insurers alike for more affordable, effective solutions.
Positive Development addresses that need through a unique model built on Developmental Relationship-Based Interventions (DRBI). These therapies emphasize natural, relationship-centered interactions and integrate speech, occupational, and mental health therapies, often at half the cost of a typical ABA program.
“Positive Development’s ability to improve outcomes and reduce the total cost of care is directly aligned with aMoon’s mission,” said Dr. Tomer Berkovitz, Managing Partner at aMoon. “Their extensive partnerships with payers and Medicaid programs showcase their success.”
With this new funding, Positive Development plans to grow both geographically and operationally. The company will enter new markets while deepening its presence in existing ones, particularly through expanded partnerships with state Medicaid agencies and private health plans.
The capital will also fuel the continued development of Positive Development’s proprietary tech and AI platform, which plays a key role in improving care delivery and streamlining provider operations.
“This funding allows us to continue expanding a model that’s working for families, providers and payers,” said CEO and Co-founder Mike Suiters. “We’re focused on making high-quality, relationship-based support more accessible and affordable.”
Founded in 2020, Positive Development offers an approach centered on play-based, relationship-driven therapy. Its DRBI model is designed to meet children where they are—supporting natural interactions through safe relationships and personalized engagement. The model encourages active family participation, helping caregivers build meaningful connections that strengthen developmental progress.
This less invasive and lower-intensity method has proven effective in delivering outcomes more efficiently than traditional models. The company also emphasizes outcomes measurement and data tracking, helping improve care while maintaining transparency for families and payers.
Positive Development’s team includes clinicians, self-advocates, and parents who bring both professional expertise and lived experience to their work. The company is currently the largest provider of developmental autism therapy in the U.S.
In addition to aMoon, B Capital, and Flare Capital, Positive Development’s investor network includes Healthworx, the investment arm of CareFirst Inc., and Digitalis Ventures. Dr. Tomer Berkovitz of aMoon has joined the company’s Board of Directors as part of the Series C round.
“Positive Development’s approach and alternative payment model are the future of autism care,” said Adam Seabrook, Partner at B Capital. “We’re excited to help make their services more accessible to families everywhere.”
