RealSense, known for its AI-powered computer vision technology, has officially spun out from Intel and raised $50 million in a Series A round to fuel its next chapter. The investment was led by a prominent semiconductor-focused private equity firm, joined by strategic backers Intel Capital and the MediaTek Innovation Fund. Now operating independently, RealSense plans to deepen its work in robotics, biometrics, and machine perception.
RealSense enters this new phase amid rising global interest in humanoid and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), as well as AI-driven security and access control. CEO Nadav Orbach underscored the opportunity:
“We’re excited to build on our leadership position in 3D perception in robotics and see scalable growth potential in the rise of physical AI,” he said. “Our independence allows us to move faster and innovate more boldly to adapt to rapidly changing market dynamics.”
The robotics sector alone is expected to quadruple from $50 billion today to over $200 billion within six years, with humanoid robots projected to grow at over 40% CAGR. Meanwhile, facial biometrics are becoming more common in settings from airports to events.
With the fresh capital, RealSense plans to expand its manufacturing, sales, and go-to-market efforts globally, while also broadening into emerging markets. The company intends to grow its team, hiring more engineers in AI, software, and robotics to accelerate product development.
RealSense will also continue to support its current customers and product roadmap, including the popular RealSense depth cameras — already embedded in 60% of AMRs and humanoid robots worldwide.
Originally incubated at Intel, RealSense has already established itself across sectors like robotics, industrial automation, healthcare, and security. Its customer base includes ANYbotics, Eyesynth, Fit:Match, and Unitree Robotics, and its cameras support over 3,000 customers globally.
The company’s recently released D555 depth camera, featuring Power over Ethernet (PoE) and powered by its next-generation Vision SoC V5, showcases its ongoing leadership in embedded vision and edge AI. RealSense holds more than 80 patents and collaborates with an extensive network of distributors and resellers worldwide.
“Our mission is to enable the world to integrate robotics and AI in everyday life safely,” said Orbach. “This technology is not about replacing human creativity or decision-making — but about removing danger and drudgery from human work.”
RealSense is led by a seasoned team combining expertise in computer vision, AI, and market growth: Nadav Orbach – Chief Executive Officer; Mark Yahiro – VP, Business Development; Mike Nielsen – VP, Marketing; Fred Angelopoulos – VP, Sales; Guy Halperin – VP, Head of R&D; Eyal Rond – VP, AI and Computer Vision; Joel Hagberg – VP, Product; Ilan Ofek – VP, New Product Introduction & Manufacturing; Chris Matthieu – Chief Developer Evangelist.
Intel Capital and MediaTek Innovation Fund join as strategic investors alongside the lead private equity firm, reflecting confidence in RealSense’s trajectory.
