Reveal Technology, a defense tech startup founded by U.S. Marine Corps veterans and Stanford engineers, has raised $30 million in a Series B funding round. Ballistic Ventures led the round, with participation from defy.vc, Booz Allen Ventures, Shield Capital, Next Frontier Capital, and Madison Valley Partners.
As part of the investment, Ballistic Ventures' Kevin Mandia—founder of Mandiant and a former U.S. Air Force officer—will join Reveal’s board of directors. He joins a growing roster of national security figures supporting the company, including Gen. Peter Pace, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Les Craig, a former CIA tech operations officer.
The latest funding reflects a broader surge of investor interest in battlefield-ready platforms. Reveal has carved out a niche by offering real-time intelligence tools that work without cloud infrastructure or reliable connectivity—a critical gap for many military and law enforcement teams.
"On the frontlines, whether a global conflict or a public safety operation, success increasingly hinges on having access to the best intelligence available offline, under fire and in real time. That's exactly what Reveal delivers," said Mandia.
Reveal will use the new capital to accelerate product development and grow its presence in U.S. and allied military programs. The company plans to invest in expanding its footprint across key defense branches and further develop its flagship platforms.
Its current products include Farsight, which transforms drone footage into 3D maps usable on smartphones without internet, and Identifi, a mobile biometric system deployed across multiple U.S. special operations units. Reveal also aims to extend into electronic warfare, cyber, and autonomous robotics technologies.
"This financing helps us double down on building products that work offline, under fire, and in real time," said Reveal CEO Garrett Smith, who co-founded the company in 2018 after witnessing technological gaps during combat service. Smith continues to serve in the Marine Corps Reserves.
Reveal was launched in December 2018 by former Marine Corps officers and Stanford technologists with a mission to address the challenges they encountered firsthand in the field. Based in Bozeman, Montana, the company has grown rapidly, increasing its revenue tenfold year over year.
Its tools are now deployed across the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Special Operations Command, and law enforcement, as well as international allies such as the Ukrainian Defense Forces, UK Ministry of Defence, and Israeli Defense Forces.
With a team made up of 50% active duty military and veterans, Reveal positions itself as a software-first alternative to traditional defense contractors, focused on providing agile, edge-ready technology for real-world missions.
This round follows an $11.2 million Series A in 2024 led by Next Frontier Capital. Investors continue to be drawn to the company’s veteran-led team and technical approach to national security.
"Reveal is building one of the most important defense technology platforms of our time," said Neil Sequeira, co-founder and managing director of defy.vc. "We were drawn to Garrett and the team from its inception due to their deep operational experience, technical rigor, and unwavering commitment to the warfighter."
