Sendcloud Plans Strategic Acquisition of isendu to Enhance E-commerce Shipping Solutions

Sendcloud to acquire isendu, boosting e-commerce shipping efficiency and supporting more than 1,000 businesses
June 26, 2024

In a bold move to further its mission of revolutionizing global shipping, Sendcloud, a leading e-commerce shipping platform, announced today its intent to acquire isendu, an innovative Italian shipping automation company. This acquisition is in line with Sendcloud’s mission of solving shipping globally.

Sendcloud, renowned for its comprehensive shipping solutions, has set its sights on isendu, a company that has made significant strides in simplifying and optimizing shipping processes for over 1,000 businesses since its launch in 2019. isendu’s platform excels in generating shipping labels instantly, centralizing shipment tracking, and refining post-purchase experiences, all of which align with Sendcloud’s vision.

“Shipping is the biggest expense in e-commerce, yet it remains the primary bottleneck to growth.” says Rob van den Heuvel, CEO and Co-founder of Sendcloud. “Most online stores lack the power of e-commerce giants like Amazon and Zalando, consumers still expect the same level of service and experience. isendu shares this belief, aligning perfectly with our mission to solve shipping globally. We look forward to officially welcoming isendu as part of Sendcloud and will offer them our full support every step of the way.”

The European B2C e-commerce sector, which boasts an annual turnover of €741 billion and is growing at 13% annually, faces significant challenges in shipping. High costs and logistical complexities are major pain points for many merchants. Since its inception, isendu has catered specifically to small and medium-sized businesses, striving to simplify and enhance their shipping processes. This focus makes isendu a perfect complement to Sendcloud’s platform.

"Recognising the disparities in e-commerce, we launched isendu in 2019, intending to help small and medium-sized merchants improve their e-commerce experience," says Lando Barbagli, CEO and Co-founder of isendu. "Building on Sendcloud’s decade of experience serving over 25,000 customers, we are confident we have found a strong partner to continue our work. Before joining Sendcloud officially, we will collaborate closely with Rob and his team to ensure we continue delivering top-notch shipping experiences for our customers and partners.”

The acquisition, expected to be finalized by the end of Q3 2024, is subject to standard regulatory approvals and reviews. Both companies are optimistic about the merger, seeing it as a strategic step towards a more integrated and efficient e-commerce shipping landscape.
