SmartSuite, a modern work management platform, has secured $38 million in funding to accelerate its global expansion. The latest round includes a $13 million Series A investment led by Canapi Ventures, with participation from Sorenson Capital and High Alpha. This follows a $25 million seed investment, signaling strong confidence from investors in SmartSuite’s mission to redefine business workflow management.
SmartSuite has experienced 300% growth in 2024, surpassing 50,000 users across 5,000 businesses in more than 100 countries. Trusted by organizations like Apple Bank, Credit One Bank, UCLA, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, the platform is gaining traction among enterprises looking for an intuitive and flexible solution for managing workflows, compliance, and automation.
"We were drawn to SmartSuite’s ability to eliminate complexity from inherently complex processes, such as Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), for enterprises and financial institutions of all sizes," said Walker Forehand, President and General Partner at Canapi Ventures.
With fresh capital, SmartSuite aims to accelerate product innovation, expand its global presence, and scale go-to-market initiatives. The company’s no-code work management platform integrates project management, process automation, document collaboration, and team coordination, offering over 200 workflow templates tailored to industries like sales, HR, IT, finance, and cybersecurity.
Deep integrations with over 5,000 applications, including Slack, Microsoft, Google, HubSpot, Salesforce, and Jira, ensure seamless connectivity across tech stacks without disrupting existing processes.
"Managing complex business processes shouldn’t feel like an impossible puzzle," said Jonathan Ruf, First Vice President at Apple Bank. "SmartSuite allowed us to unify everything from legal approvals and compliance workflows to cross-functional collaboration—without adding complexity."
SmartSuite was founded by Jon and Tara Darbyshire and Peter Novosel, the team behind Archer Technologies. After selling Archer to EMC (now Dell Technologies), they spent three years developing a user-friendly work management solution that eliminates the inefficiencies of fragmented workflows and outdated tools.
"With our 300% growth in 2024, it's clear that companies are looking for a fresh approach—one that integrates compliance, risk, and security operations into everyday work management," said Jon Darbyshire, CEO of SmartSuite.
