Spanish Startup Strong by Form Secures $5.2M to Revolutionize Construction

They're walking with groundbreaking products designed to combat climate change head-on, the power of sustainable wooden

In the dynamic realm of sustainable innovation, European startups are emerging as pioneers in the fight against climate change, introducing groundbreaking products that redefine industry norms. Imagine sustainable wooden springs replacing bubble wrap, offering eco-friendly packaging solutions, or envisioning the world's first waterproof solid wood sanitaryware challenging traditional bathroom fixtures. Now, take a significant leap into reshaping Europe's construction landscape with Strong by Form, a Spanish bio-composite technology startup that has just secured an impressive $5.2 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round.

In a landscape dominated by steel and concrete, Strong by Form's timber-based cladding material is poised to disrupt norms and elevate sustainable construction practices. The oversubscribed seed funding round, led by CMPC Ventures, the venture capital arm of global pulp and paper giant CMPC, exceeded expectations by more than 25%. Additional backing came from a diverse group, including CiRi Ventures, MAIF Avenir Ventures, Teampact Ventures, Climate Insiders, Core Angels, Savia Ventures, Family Offices, and corporate venture capitals Symbia VC, FINSA, and VX Ventures.

This influx of funds, totaling $5.2 million, will empower Strong by Form to double its size and establish a cutting-edge industrial manufacturing facility. The startup is poised to bring onboard new talents, fortify its research and development initiatives, and enhance product development capabilities. As the Madrid-based company gears up for exponential growth, the funding will also support the formation of a comprehensive manufacturing team.

At the heart of Strong by Form's transformative approach is WoodFlow Technology—a seamless fusion of nature and technology that introduces a material with unparalleled adaptability. Going beyond mere aesthetics, WoodFlow Technology promises strength and versatility, enabling the construction of taller and more expansive timber structures. This innovation isn't confined to construction; its promising weight-to-strength ratio and freeform capabilities open doors to diverse industries, including the automotive sector.

Founded in 2018, Strong by Form has already made waves in the construction sector, collaborating with Deutsche Bahn and establishing a strategic partnership with the BMW Group for exploring new markets. As the company propels itself into a future marked by sustainable construction and technological innovation, the $5.2 million funding marks a pivotal moment—a testament to the growing influence of European startups in shaping a more sustainable, eco-conscious future.
