Sprinter Health, a technology-driven mobile healthcare provider, has closed a $55 million Series B funding round. The investment was led by General Catalyst, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) Bio + Health, Google Ventures, Accel, and the Regents of the University of California.
The Menlo Park-based company, founded in 2021, has now raised over $125 million. With this latest injection, Sprinter plans to deepen its reach into underserved communities and grow its footprint across the U.S. by enhancing its technology and service network.
Sprinter Health is addressing a core issue in modern healthcare: connecting with patients who are often left out of traditional and virtual-first care models. By combining in-person visits with a virtual medical team, Sprinter creates a bridge for patients typically unreachable through remote care alone.
Its model pairs W-2 in-home staff—trained as medical assistants, community health workers, and phlebotomists—with virtual nurse practitioners and specialists. The company’s commitment to hiring from within the communities it serves helps build trust and comfort in every visit.
With the new funds, Sprinter will invest heavily in its proprietary routing and engagement platform. This technology allows each "Sprinter" to visit up to 12 patients per day, optimizing schedules around local conditions such as traffic, parking, and appointment types.
Sprinter plans to expand from 18 to 22 states by the end of summer 2025 and scale its operations beyond the nearly 100,000 home visits it has already completed. The funding will also support enhancements to its AI-driven scheduling system and extend the geographic reach of its teams.
Chronic disease management remains a major cost and health burden in the U.S. Sprinter Health tackles this by not only identifying care gaps, but also ensuring follow-up by reconnecting patients with their care providers or social resources. The company reports that over 30% of adults have unattended care needs, and their model is designed to drive long-term outcomes, not just one-off visits.
Sprinter’s approach enables it to impact up to 20 quality measures with an 80% gap closure rate. For health plans, this translates into measurable progress toward 4-Star or higher ratings, cost reduction, and improved patient engagement.
Founded by Max Cohen and Cameron Behar, both formerly of Oculus and Google, Sprinter Health has focused on combining tech innovation with on-the-ground care delivery since day one. The company is backed by a strong board and clinical team and continues to evolve its hybrid model to meet national healthcare needs.
Sprinter's high-touch, high-tech formula, supported by a 90+ Net Promoter Score, positions it as a standout in the increasingly competitive digital health sector.
General Catalyst, who also led the company's seed round, continues to support Sprinter’s vision of expanding access and delivering value. Holly Maloney, Managing Director at General Catalyst, noted, “They've built the technological infrastructure to make care both scalable and impactful for the people who need it most.”
Other backers such as a16z, GV, Accel, and UC Regents further signal confidence in Sprinter’s full-stack approach and long-term scalability in the home-based care space.
