CoPlane has successfully raised $14 million in a Seed funding round to modernize how essential enterprises handle their operations. Ribbit Capital led the investment. They were joined by Stripe, Optum Ventures, and Terrain. This capital marks a significant milestone for the company as it introduces an AI-native platform designed to streamline complex back-office functions.
The company focuses on solving deep inefficiencies within large organizations. While the global Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) market exceeds $80 billion, the underlying technology often remains outdated. CoPlane offers a modern alternative. It provides an intelligent layer that allows businesses to automate workflows without the need for multi-year migration projects.
Most major companies still rely on rigid software designed decades ago to manage finance, supply chains, and operations. These systems are expensive to maintain and difficult to change. Consequently, General and Administrative (G&A) spending has remained stagnant at roughly 15% of revenue across the S&P 500 for years. This stagnation represents a "hidden tax" on productivity. Instead of driving growth, the back office often becomes a cost center that relies heavily on manual labor and outside consultants.
CoPlane addresses this issue by replacing manual work with autonomous agents. It creates a flexible system that adapts to the business rather than forcing the business to adapt to the software.
“Back-office complexity is one of the biggest hidden taxes on large enterprises,” said Jordan Angelos, Partner at Ribbit. “CoPlane's AI engine transforms legacy ERP-adjacent workflows into agentic applications that scalably get work done. Surging demand from essential industries shows that they’re ready for a change.”
This new funding will accelerate the development of CoPlane’s platform and support its expansion into new markets. The company is building an "Intelligent Operations Layer" that sits on top of existing systems. This technology automates critical tasks such as invoice exception handling, sales order entry, and data reconciliation. By doing so, it frees up thousands of hours previously spent on repetitive manual work.
The goal is to give traditional industries the same agility found in modern tech companies. Customers across healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services are already using the platform to improve efficiency.
“CoPlane has fundamentally elevated the way our organization operates,” said Joseph Brunink, CEO of OI Infusion Services. “In just a few months, their platform and team have multiplied the impact of our internal IT and operations groups — allowing us to scale our back-office infrastructure as efficiently as we scale our clinical footprint. Their hands-on enablement and problem-solving approach have delivered real, production-level solutions to complex workflows across finance, accounting, and procurement. The CoPlane team doesn’t just deploy software — they embed as partners who understand the operational realities of high-growth healthcare.”
Founded in 2024, CoPlane is led by CEO Chris Sperandio. He previously served as Lead Product Architect at Segment and led product acceleration at Stripe. During his time in these roles, he observed the immense friction caused by sprawling ERP systems. Alongside co-founders Scott and Victor, Sperandio spent the early days of the company embedded directly with design partners. They built solutions by hand to understand the specific pain points of enterprise data before writing the code that would solve them.
“Enterprise back offices haven’t meaningfully improved in decades. Across the S&P 500, G&A spend as a percentage of revenue hasn’t budged in decades—hovering at around 15%,” said Chris Sperandio, CoPlane co-founder and CEO. “We’re building CoPlane to change that and to give tech, supply chain, manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services enterprises the same kind of leverage that the best technology companies have long had with their own custom systems.”
The company has attracted support from industry leaders who understand the complexity of financial infrastructure. In addition to the lead investors, CoPlane is working with major organizations like Georgia Pacific and Red Ventures. These partnerships validate the platform's ability to handle high-stakes environments where governance and data control are mandatory.
“CoPlane has been a crucial partner supporting our accounts payable transformation journey," said Jeff Grice, Controller's Transformation Leader at Georgia Pacific. "Their deep expertise in building reliable data and AI systems has helped shape our technology strategy in order to achieve our short-term objectives while building a strong foundation for the future.”
