Summize has raised $50 million to accelerate its global expansion and strengthen its position in AI-powered contract intelligence. The investment round included participation from existing backers Maven Capital Partners and YFM Equity Partners, with new investors Kennet Partners and Federated Hermes Private Equity joining the company's cap table.
The funding arrives as Summize maintains impressive momentum in the contract lifecycle management (CLM) market. The company has posted over 100% annual recurring revenue (ARR) growth for five straight years, with ARR climbing 97% year-over-year between July and December 2025.
Summize's embedded approach to contract management has resonated with legal teams across industries. The platform integrates directly into tools companies already use, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, Slack, Salesforce, and HubSpot, allowing legal professionals to manage contracts without switching between applications.
Customer bookings surged 92% in the second half of 2025. The company's client roster now includes Revolut, AMC Networks, SHL Medical, Clearscore, and professional sports franchises across the NBA, MLB, and NFL.
"Summize has an incredible track record of consistent growth as customers love its embedded approach and ability to bring the power of AI and CLM directly into the tools that they already use on a daily basis," said Alex Taylor-Harris, Director at Kennet Partners. "Summize's proven performance, clear market differentiation, and long-term vision for AI-powered contract management make it a disruptive CLM player in a crowded market."
The $50 million will support continued product development, team expansion, and deeper market penetration across key geographies. Summize has already opened new offices in San Diego to serve West Coast customers and expanded its Manchester headquarters to accommodate a 59% increase in global headcount over the past year.
The company plans to advance its agentic AI capabilities, which apply legal context to contracting processes. Beyond core CLM functions, Summize is extending its AI to extract insights from financial documents, compliance materials, and regulatory content.
Founded in 2018 by CEO Tom Dunlop, Summize set out to simplify contracts by meeting legal teams where they work. The Manchester-based company now operates offices in Boston and San Diego, serving a growing international customer base.
Summize's platform uses AI to ensure accuracy and speed throughout the contract lifecycle. Legal teams benefit from self-service workflows that reduce bottlenecks while maintaining oversight. The embedded experience has proven particularly attractive to companies seeking fast time-to-value without lengthy implementation cycles.
"We founded Summize to make contracts easier to understand and the contracting process more efficient by complementing how modern teams work," said Dunlop. "This new $50 million investment underlines our differentiated user experience and ability to design innovative, trusted AI solutions for legal teams and the wider business."
Maven Capital Partners and YFM Equity Partners increased their stakes in this round, signaling continued confidence in Summize's trajectory. The addition of Kennet Partners and Federated Hermes Private Equity brings specialized expertise in scaling technology companies globally.
Jeremy Thompson, Partner at Maven Capital, noted the company's evolution beyond its initial focus. "From its roots in summarizing contracts, the company has expanded its capabilities rapidly to become a cutting-edge Contract Lifecycle Management solution that has attracted global clients," he said. "With an exciting roadmap and big, future ideas, we're looking forward to the next phase of growth and continued success with Summize."
Mike Clarke, Partner at YFM Equity, highlighted the platform's return on investment. "Customers experience an incredible ROI in a short amount of time and benefit from the embedded experience of Summize within their existing collaboration tools," Clarke said. "In addition, Summize's strong foundation in AI and its ability to contextualize knowledge are designed to scale beyond core CLM use cases and into other areas of a company's business, making this a strategic AI investment that scales beyond legal."
Summize engaged Canaccord Genuity as exclusive financial advisor, with Squire Patton Boggs providing legal counsel and BDO advising on finance and tax matters.
