Swarmia has raised $11 million in a Series A round to expand its software engineering intelligence platform. The funding round was led by Karma Ventures and DIG Ventures, with participation from existing backers Alven and Lifeline Ventures.

Notable angel investors also joined, including Cal Henderson (former CTO of Slack), Romain Huët (Head of Developer Experience at OpenAI), and Alex Plugaru (Co-Founder & CTO of Gorgias). The round signals growing interest in tools that help engineering teams work smarter, not just faster.

Visibility Tools Gaining Ground Among Developers and CTOs

The demand for engineering intelligence has increased as companies seek clearer ways to understand development workflows. Swarmia addresses this need by offering insights across multiple organizational levels—from PR bottlenecks to strategic leadership decisions.

Kristjan Laanemaa, Founding Partner at Karma Ventures, noted: “What really shone through in our conversations with Swarmia customers was the ease of adoption of the product and the relief of engineering leaders in top-tier software companies to finally have a unified data source to help contextualize decisions related to leading their teams.”

Swarmia’s traction among companies like Webflow, Miro, Lovable, and Superhuman shows a broader shift toward data-driven development practices in modern software organizations.

AI-Powered Recommendations Are the Next Chapter

With this new funding, Swarmia plans to accelerate product development and deepen its AI capabilities. The team is enhancing features that move beyond passive dashboards by offering context-rich, actionable suggestions.

The recently launched signals feature identifies workflow inefficiencies and proposes team-specific actions. AI-driven issue grouping and smart linking of pull requests to the right tasks are also part of Swarmia’s focus on reducing daily friction for engineers.

The goal is to empower both developers and leaders—bridging daily team operations with strategic decision-making through timely, actionable intelligence.

From Friction-Fixing to Full-Scale Engineering Intelligence

Founded five years ago, Swarmia began by tackling everyday developer pain points like slow PR reviews and disjointed workflows. Over time, the team built a platform that scales from team-level visibility to organization-wide insights, enabling metrics that matter across roles.

Swarmia’s approach emphasizes autonomy and transparency—offering developers tools that help them ship faster while equipping leaders with reliable, organization-wide metrics. With nearly 50 people on the team, the company has steadily expanded its footprint, serving everyone from fast-scaling startups to Fortune 500s.

Backed by Veteran Investors and Industry Builders

This Series A round adds to Swarmia’s earlier backing by Alven and Lifeline Ventures. The new support from Karma Ventures and DIG Ventures, combined with industry veterans like Henderson and Huët, positions the company to scale with both financial and operational guidance.

Swarmia’s continued growth signals a maturing category—and its founders believe it’s only the beginning of how engineering data can be used to drive better decisions across all levels of software organizations.
