Wasp has closed a $3.7 million seed round led by HV Capital, with participation from the CTO of Supabase, the CEO of Prisma, and institutional investors including Fifth Quarter Ventures, big_bets, Metis Ventures, Lunar Ventures, and Abstraction Capital.
The new capital arrives as Wasp prepares to exit beta and launch version 1.0 of its web framework. The funding will help the company double down on developer needs as it aims to become the new standard for enterprise-grade web applications.
Web development has become increasingly fragmented—developers often juggle multiple tools for frontend, backend, and database layers. Wasp addresses this pain point by unifying popular technologies like React, Node.js, and Prisma into one full-stack framework. By doing so, it reduces complexity for both AI and human developers.
"Wasp’s unique approach to simplifying full-stack development is a game-changer for both developers and AI. We’re excited to back the team as they scale their framework and work towards becoming the go-to tool for building enterprise-grade applications," said Said Alib Haschemi, Principal at HV Capital.
Wasp is already gaining strong traction across startups, SaaS companies, and even Fortune 500 enterprises. With over 26,000 GitHub stars across its repositories, it's emerging as a top contender in the developer tooling space.
The Wasp team will use the fresh funding to ship its 1.0 version, making the framework production-ready. Plans include expanding support for new architectures and programming languages, as well as improving compatibility with server-side rendering (SSR) and other performance-focused features.
The team also aims to scale enterprise adoption by refining the framework based on years of developer feedback. Enhancements are designed to support modern use cases, including AI-assisted development workflows.
Wasp was founded in 2021 by twin brothers Matija and Martin Šošić after experiencing firsthand how disjointed modern web development had become. Instead of building yet another standalone tool, they created a framework that works as a connective layer, helping developers build with tools they already know.
Since launching its beta in 2023, Wasp has seen organic growth through developer word-of-mouth and community support. Their approach has resonated across companies of all sizes, from early-stage startups to global enterprises.
In addition to HV Capital, Wasp attracted backing from product leaders who understand developer workflows deeply—including the CTO of Supabase and the CEO of Prisma. Other institutional investors in the round include Fifth Quarter Ventures, big_bets, Metis Ventures, Lunar Ventures, and Abstraction Capital.
