HealthAI, the Global Agency for Responsible AI in Health, has announced a new round of opportunities for countries to apply as Pioneer Countries in its Global Regulatory Network (GRN). This initiative aims to enhance local capacities in AI regulation for health systems worldwide, following strong international demand.
Building on the success of its first round, HealthAI is now inviting health ministries, regulatory authorities, and relevant institutions globally to express their interest in joining the GRN. The first group of 10 Pioneer Countries is set to launch by Q2 2025, with further expansion planned for 2026.
“We’ve seen an overwhelming response from countries eager to advance responsible AI in health. This initiative underscores the importance of global collaboration to ensure AI serves as a trusted tool for health and well-being worldwide,” said Dr. Ricardo Baptista Leite, CEO of HealthAI.
The initiative addresses the urgent need for coordinated global action to prevent disparities in AI-driven health advancements. HealthAI’s goal is to make AI tools more accessible and equitable, reducing health inequalities and fostering innovation across diverse health systems.
The Pioneer Country program offers a pathway for nations to adopt AI solutions responsibly, providing access to implementation support, AI expertise, and strategic partnerships.
Health ministries, technology departments, and regulatory bodies interested in becoming Pioneer Countries can submit their expressions of interest by March 31, 2025. Applications can be made via HealthAI’s official website.
