
MediView XR has closed a $24 million Series A funding round to accelerate the commercialization of its augmented reality surgical navigation platform. The Cleveland-based medtech company secured investment from GE HealthCare, which led the round, along with Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Edge Ventures (the investment arm of Emplify Health), and JobsOhio Growth Capital Fund.
The financing brings together some of healthcare's most respected institutions and validates MediView's approach to addressing long-standing challenges in medical imaging. Founded on intellectual property developed at Cleveland Clinic, the company has built an FDA-cleared platform that fundamentally changes how clinicians interact with patient data during procedures.
Most medical procedures today still rely on physicians mentally translating flat, two-dimensional images into three-dimensional understanding. Doctors constantly look away from patients to check monitors, breaking their natural hand-eye coordination and adding cognitive strain during already demanding interventions.
MediView's platform addresses this by projecting 3D patient anatomy directly through the skin, visible in real time during procedures. The system fuses CT scans with live ultrasound imaging, creating an interactive overlay that shows organs, blood vessels, tumors, and other target anatomy in their actual spatial context. Clinicians can see exactly where they're working without looking away from the patient.

The technology provides what the company describes as a "head-up, hands-free 3D experience." Doctors can target small lesions more accurately, maintain better ergonomics, and even collaborate remotely with colleagues through shared visualization tools. For procedures like biopsies, tumor ablations, and targeted injections, the platform offers precision that traditional imaging methods struggle to match.
MediView plans to use the capital across five main areas. The company will scale commercial and clinical adoption of its AR solutions at healthcare institutions. It will also pursue partnerships with medical imaging companies, therapeutic device makers, and technology providers to drive broader market adoption.
Clinical validation remains a priority. MediView intends to advance publications and regulatory approvals that demonstrate clinical, workflow, and economic benefits. Product development will continue across surgical visualization, navigation, data analytics, and remote collaboration features, with plans to expand into multiple clinical specialties. Finally, the company will grow its operational infrastructure to meet rising demand from hospitals worldwide.
