VUSE XR is a German software company founded in 2023 and based in Freiburg, specializing in mixed reality (XR) solutions for businesses. Its software platform, VUSE XR Hub, enables companies to turn existing 3D product designs and technical documentation into interactive experiences. The platform supports employee training, product demonstrations, sales, and technical support across web browsers, mobile devices, and XR headsets. VUSE XR serves industrial, manufacturing, and life sciences companies, including ZEISS, Hologic, Witron, and Badenova, with software designed for deployment across international teams and locations.
The company was founded by cousins Niclas Matthias and Dr. Paul Matthias. Niclas serves as Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
VUSE XR has closed a €1.2 million pre-seed funding round led by IACD, a business angel network based in Düsseldorf, Germany. The investment will support further development of the company's technology and its commercial expansion.
The financing comes as businesses explore the use of extended reality for employee training and technical education. A 2026 study from the Technical University of Munich found that organizational readiness and internal coordination remain barriers to introducing XR technology into everyday business operations.
Mixed reality combines digital information with real or simulated surroundings. In industrial environments, employees can use it to learn how equipment works, follow technical procedures and practice tasks without having the physical machinery in front of them.
Developing these experiences can be expensive. Many companies rely on specialized agencies to build individual applications, with each project requiring its own development work. When equipment or operating procedures change, the training content must also be updated, adding to the cost of maintaining the system.
Businesses also face practical obstacles when introducing the technology. An April 2026 report from TechTarget identified system integration, budgets and technical standards as challenges affecting enterprise adoption of augmented reality. These issues can become more complicated when companies introduce training across several departments or locations.
"Effective training is critical to productivity, knowledge transfer and the safe operation of increasingly complex products and processes. The technology developed by VUSE XR has the potential to fundamentally change how companies deliver training, making it more accessible and scalable across products and locations." — Andreas Goss, IACD member and former Chief Executive Officer of thyssenkrupp Steelю
The funding will support further development of the VUSE XR Hub, particularly its AI tools for creating training content from existing product information and technical documents. The company plans to improve these capabilities to make it easier for businesses to prepare and update materials as products and industrial processes change.
VUSE XR has also expanded its commercial leadership team. Jan Hendrik Degner has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer, while Robert Günther has joined as Vice President Sales and Service Delivery.
Degner has more than ten years of experience in corporate development, venture capital, and mergers and acquisitions. His previous employers include J.P. Morgan and CEWE Group. Günther brings more than a decade of experience in technology partnerships involving mixed reality, including senior positions at Meta and Unity.
The appointments are part of the company's plans to grow its commercial operations and customer base.
The VUSE XR Hub provides a standardized system for developing immersive training materials. Companies can create experiences for different products and processes within the same platform, then revise them when technical information changes.
For example, an industrial manufacturer can use digital representations of machinery to explain how equipment operates. Employees can follow visual instructions and interact with virtual models, allowing them to understand procedures without needing the actual machine at their training location.
The platform also uses AI-assisted creation tools to help turn product data and documentation into customized content. This reduces the amount of development work required for individual training projects and makes it easier to maintain materials across different locations.
"Mixed reality hardware is advancing rapidly, but creating mixed reality training content remains the biggest barrier to broader enterprise adoption," said Niclas Matthias. "The VUSE XR Hub removes this bottleneck, enabling companies to unlock significant business value from mixed reality."
IACD is a business angel network based in Düsseldorf, Germany. The organization supports VUSE XR and identifies applications for its technology in industrial training, product demonstrations, sales and product development.
Markus Roithmeier, an IACD member and Chairman of the VUSE XR Advisory Board, cited the company's technology, team and commercial progress when discussing the investment.
"From an investor’s perspective, VUSE XR brings together everything we look for at this stage: an exceptional team, defensible AI-driven technology, and strong commercial traction," said Markus Roithmeier. "The company has demonstrated its ability to turn a technically demanding product into a scalable software business with considerable growth potential, further accelerated by continuous AI-powered feature enrichment."
With the financing completed, VUSE XR will continue developing its software and expanding its commercial activities, with a focus on mixed reality training for industrial and life sciences companies.
